Skoda Slavia Coming Soon - Reveal Likely In Next Few Days | V3Cars

Skoda India today teased the Slavia sedan, which is on its way to the Indian showrooms. The carmaker released a small teaser highlighting their heritage and the Slavia name, which was first used for a bicycle model several decades ago.

While there’s not much information available about the Slavia, rumours suggest that the car will be longer than the Rapid. Therefore, the Slavia will not serve as a direct replacement for the ageing but competent Rapid. The reports also claim that the Slavia will use the India-spec MQB A0-IN platform, which is also doing duty in the Kushaq and Taigun.

It’s unclear at the moment if the Rapid and Slavia will remain on sale simultaneously. It sounds unlikely that customers would buy the Rapid when the larger and newer Slavia is sitting right next to it on the showroom floor and costs only a bit more.

On the powertrain front, we can expect the Slavia to also use the same 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine with 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. Additionally, the Slavia could also get the more powerful 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine with a 6-speed manual and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

While the car buyers are craving SUVs these days, the Slavia’s longer length could steal some buyers from the Kushaq. Measuring more than 4.5m in length, the Honda City is currently the longest car in the C-segment sedan space. It’s long enough to enter the D-segment sedan.

According to the teaser, the Skoda Slavia will go on sale during the winters. Meanwhile, details will continue to pour in steadily until the launch and price reveal, which could happen around the new year.
