The new Baleno offers features like automatic climate control, halogen-based projector headlights, LED tail lights, tilt steering, all 4 power windows and rear defogger as standard in the base variant. All these features make it a compelling choice for buyers looking for a premium hatchback on a budget.

Efficient Engine With Affordable AMT Option

The Maruti Suzuki Baleno comes with a 1.2L normal petrol engine, which offers a claimed fuel economy of close to 23kmpl. In addition to that, the Baleno also comes with an AMT option, which is equally efficient and only commands a premium of Rs. 50,000 over corresponding manual variants. Save for the base variant, Maruti Nexa offers the Baleno automatic in the remaining 3 variants.

First B2-Segment Hatchback With A CNG Option

The 2022 Baleno is the first B2-segment hatchback with a factory-fitted CNG option. The only other CNG premium hatchback currently is the Glanza CNG, which shares its powertrain and platform with the Baleno CNG. It offers a claimed fuel efficiency of 30.61kmpkg.

The Baleno enjoys a reassuring after-sales network and its very easy to find a qualified technician for Maruti Suzuki cars even in the remote locations. No Diesel Or Turbo Petrol Engine Available

The 2022 Baleno does not come with a diesel engine. Ever since BS6 emission norms came into effect, Maruti Suzuki discontinued their diesel range of cars. The 2022 Baleno also lacks the option of a turbo petrol engine. On the other hand, the rivals of the Baleno, such as the Hyundai i20 and Tata Altroz, offer both diesel and turbo petrol engines.

Missing Features Compared To Its Rivals

The new Baleno offers some impressive features like a 360-degree parking camera,a head-up display and 6 airbags. However, it still misses out on some feel-good features like electric sunroof, rear armrest, tyre pressure monitoring system and air purifier.

Affordable AMT Over DCT And CVT Of Rivals

While the Baleno automatic comes at an affordable price with the automated manual transmission, it fails to keep up with the more premium and refined DCT and CVTs in the segment. The previous-gen Baleno used to be offered with a CVT option but that didn’t find as many buyers, as per Maruti Suzuki.

No AMT Option With CNG

Maruti Suzuki have been offering CNG cars for a long time now but none of their cars offer an automatic or a clutchless alternative. As CNG cars are mostly used in the city, an automatic option makes more sense over a manual transmission.

Alpha Variant Fails To Justify The Incremental Cost

The Zeta variant has been our pick in nearly all the Maruti Nexa offerings. In the Baleno too, the Zeta variant packs all the essentials along with 6 airbags. However, the key highlights of the new Baleno, such as the head-up display, 360-parking camera and 9.0-inch touchscreen, are reserved for the top-spec Alpha variant. The top-spec Alpha variant doesn’t justify the incremental cost and makes it inaccessible to a lot of buyers.
