    Toyota Glanza India Launch Date

Toyota Glanza launched on June 6, 2019.

    Toyota Glanza Pricing

The Toyota Glanza is priced from Rs. 7.22 lakh to Rs. 8.90 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

    Toyota Glanza Variants

The Toyota Glanza is available in just 2 variants – G and V. These are based on the Baleno’s top 2 variants - Zeta and Alpha, respectively. Both variants are available with a normal 1.2-litre petrol engine with a 5-speed manual and a CVT automatic transmission. The lower G variant is also available with a 1.2-litre hybrid engine paired with a 5-speed manual transmission.

    Toyota Glanza Engine and Transmission

The Toyota Glanza is a petrol-only car. The premium hatchback gets the same BS6-ready 1.2-litre petrol engines as the Baleno. The normal 1.2-litre petrol engine makes 83PS of power at 6000rpm and 113Nm of torque at 4200rpm. It's available with a 5-speed manual and a CVT automatic transmission option. The 1.2-litre hybrid petrol engine makes a slightly higher 90PS of power at 6000rpm and 113Nm of torque at 4400rpm. It’s available with only a 5-speed manual transmission.

    Toyota Glanza Fuel Efficiency Figures

The Glanza’s normal 1.2-litre petrol engine with the manual transmission promises a fuel efficiency figure of 21.01kmpl. The same engine with the CVT automatic transmission gives 19.56kmpl. The 1.2-litre hybrid petrol engine delivers a claimed fuel efficiency of 23.87kmpl.

    Toyota Glanza Features - Hits

The Toyota Glanza being a premium hatchback model, boasts of a plethora of features including a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, full-colour multi-info display, tilt and telescopic adjustable steering wheel, steering-mounted controls, push-button engine start/stop, keyless entry, automatic air conditioning, front armrest, UV protect tinted glass, automatic LED projector headlamps, auto-dimming inside mirror and more.

Glanza’s safety features include ABS, dual front airbags, speed sensing auto door locks, seatbelts with pre-tensioners and force limiters, driver & front passenger seatbelt reminders, parking sensor, reversing camera and ISOFIX child seat mounts.

    Toyota Glanza - Missed Features

While the Toyota Glanza is a feature-rich hatchback for the price, there’s still room for improvement. The Glanza could do with cruise control, automatic wipers, an air purifier, a rear-seat armrest, rear AC vents, cooled glovebox and thorax and curtain airbags.

    Toyota Glanza Background

Toyota Glanza is the first in the line of many cars yet to come out of the Toyota-Maruti Suzuki partnership. While rebadging is nothing new among carmakers, there are few cars in the world making it as obvious the Toyota Glanza. There are barely any differences between the Toyota Glanza and the Maruti Suzuki Baleno - in terms of features, style or powertrain. Even Glanza’s prices are on par with the Baleno’s.

    Toyota Glanza Rivals

The Glanza’s main rivals are the Hyundai Elite i20 and Honda Jazz. But a serious competition comes from Maruti Suzuki’s Baleno itself. Considering the price point, the Glanza also has to compete with compact sedans like the Maruti Suzuki Dzire and Honda Amaze are also its indirect rivals.

Who Should Buy the Toyota Glanza?

Since the Toyota Glanza is based on the highly successful Maruti Suzuki Baleno, it’s a well-rounded package, to begin with. It has spacious interiors, a good list of features, safety equipment and fairly reliable and frugal petrol engines. Thus, the Glanza has all that it needs to be a great seller. The Glanza also has the Toyota badge. Toyota has great brand loyalty, owing to their other cars’ strong long-term reliability.

Moreover, the Glanza offers a longer standard warranty than the Baleno. The Toyota Glanza comes with a standard warranty of 3 years/1,00,000 km warranty while the Maruti Suzuki Baleno’s 2 years/40,000 km warranty. Then again, the Glanza is based on the top 2 variants of the Baleno and is priced similar. Not only Toyota kept the Glanza’s pricing competitive after the rebadging job, but has also priced the G Smart Hybrid variant cheaper than its equivalent Baleno Zeta petrol Smart hybrid variant. The Glanza G hybrid is about Rs. 65,000 cheaper than the Baleno Zeta hybrid.

So, if you are considering the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, then the Glanza may be a better option if you have Toyota’s service stations within driving distance for repairs and routine maintenance. If you are looking to buy the more frugal hybrid petrol variant of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, then go for the Glanza G hybrid as it’s cheaper than the Baleno Zeta petrol hybrid variant.
