2026 Volkswagen Taigun Facelift: Top 5 Expected Changes | V3Cars

Volkswagen are currently testing the 2026 Taigun facelift and recent spy shots suggest the Hyundai Creta and Tata Sierra rival could arrive with several feature and design upgrades. Since the Taigun shares its powertrain and platform with the Skoda Kushaq, many of the updates seen on the recently revealed 2026 Kushaq facelift could make their way to Volkswagen’s C-segment SUV as well.

2026 Volkswagen Taigun Facelift — Top 5 Expected Changes

In this article, we take a closer look at the top 5 changes expected on the 2026 Taigun facelift based on recent spy shots and segment trends.

1. New 8-Speed Automatic For 1L Turbo Petrol

One of the major updates expected on the Taigun facelift is the introduction of an 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission for the 1L turbo petrol engine. Currently, the Taigun’s 1L turbo petrol variants are offered with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter. An 8-speed automatic could improve the Taigun’s highway refinement and mileage by allowing the engine to operate at lower RPMs during cruising.

2. Panoramic Sunroof

The Taigun 2026 could also receive a panoramic sunroof, replacing the single-pane unit currently offered on higher variants. Panoramic sunroofs have become increasingly popular among Indian car buyers, and several rivals in the segment now offer larger sunroofs. Introducing this feature would not only strengthen the Taigun’s feature list but also enhance the sense of space inside the cabin. For many buyers in this segment, a panoramic sunroof has become a key showroom highlight, making it an important update for the Taigun facelift.

3. Updated Lighting Elements And Illuminated Logos

The latest spy shots of the Taigun facelift suggest it will offer a refreshed front end design featuring slimmer LED headlamps and an illuminated VW logo. The rear design is also expected to receive minor updates such as revised bumpers and new graphics for the connected LED taillamps. Like the Tayron R-Line that was launched recently, the Taigun facelift too could get a red illuminated VW logo on the tailgate.

Apart from these changes and new alloy wheel designs, the overall silhouette of the Taigun is unlikely to change.

4. Rear Massage Seats On Top Variants

The Kushaq facelift introduced rear massage seats in the C-segment. We expect Volkswagen to offer the Taigun facelift with this unique feature too. While massage seats are typically offered for front row passenger seats only, introducing rear massage seats could significantly improve comfort for rear passengers or chauffeur-driven owners. If introduced, we expect this feature to be limited to the Topline and GT Plus Sport variants only.

5. 10.25-inch Digital Driver’s Display And New Ambient Lighting

Like the Kushaq 2026, the Taigun facelift is also expected to receive a larger 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, replacing the current 8-inch unit. Additionally, the cabin could also receive new dual-colour ambient lighting. At present, the Taigun offers white ambient lighting in Chrome variants and red lighting in Sport variants. With the facelift, Volkswagen could allow users to switch between multiple lighting colours to personalise the cabin atmosphere. While this may seem like a small change, ambient lighting plays an increasingly important role in creating a premium interior experience.

Taigun Facelift Likely To Offer Expanded Standard Feature List

Similar to the Kushaq 2026, we expect the Taigun facelift to offer an expanded list of standard features. For the Kushaq, Skoda made the following features standard on all variants:

  • LED headlamps and tail lamps
  • Alloy wheels
  • Sunroof
  • Automatic climate control
  • Auto headlamps and wipers
  • Auto-dimming IRVM
  • Rear wiper and defogger

We expect Volkswagen to offer some, if not all, of the above features as standard on the Taigun facelift as well.
