Hyundai Bayon Expected Price — With Logic (Maruti Fronx Rival) | V3Cars

In this 2026 Hyundai Bayon price range expectation article, we will present the most likely ex-showroom price range of the upcoming Bayon base model and Bayon top model. Once we get the launch confirmation and variant-powertrain combinations of the upcoming Bayon, we will try and estimate the variant wise pricing also. We will also present our logic and important considerations gone into estimating the price range of the upcoming Bayon SUV from Hyundai.

Hyundai Bayon Expected Price Range With Logic

Let’s start with setting the stage for the price range.

Positioning

The Maruti Fronx has shown the industry how much money there is to be made if you can get the styling and pricing of a product right. The most popular variants of the Fronx carry an ex-showroom price of around Rs. 8.0 - 8.50 lakh. The Maruti Brezza also sells most in the base variant with petrol-manual and CNG-manual powertrains carrying ex-showroom price tags of Rs. 8.26 lakh and Rs. 9.17 lakh, respectively.

Clearly, the Brezza comes across as a more expensive option as it offers fewer features than a similarly expensive Fronx variant. But, what you don’t see in the ex-showroom pricing is the tax.

The Brezza, because of its larger, 1.5L petrol engine, has to pay 40% GST to the government while the Fronx only has to pay 18% GST. Doing some V3 style reverse calculations, we learn that the ex-factory price of a modestly priced Fronx Delta AMT (Rs. 8.15 lakh ex-sh price) is Rs. 6.91 lakh. That is what Maruti Suzuki are getting for every Fronx Delta petrol-AMT they sell.

For the Brezza LXI CNG-manual, which costs Rs. 9.17 lakh (ex-sh), the ex-factory price comes out to be Rs 6.55 lakh.

So, you see, the Brezza LXI CNG-manual, even with its Rs. 1.02 lakh higher ex-showroom price tag, and a more expensive engine and a CNG kit ends up bringing in only Rs. 6.55 lakh into Maruti’s bank account.

Meanwhile, a Fronx, with its smaller engine, and a cheaper platform (Baleno-based), brings in Rs. 36,000 more revenue. For a similarly priced Brezza LXI petrol-manual (Rs. 8.26 lakh ex-sh) and Fronx Delta AMT (Rs. 8.15 lakh), the revenue difference between the two cars’ ex-factory price stretches to Rs. 1.0 lakh. This further gives an advantage of margins to the Fronx over the Brezza.

This is why other brands are scrambling to figure out how to make a competent Fronx rival, which can sell in half decent numbers. Because a product like Fronx has much fatter margins.

But The Hyundai Bayon Is More Than 4 Meter Long (4180mm)!

Yup! That should take away any small car tax advantage from the Bayon. However, the India-spec Bayon will measure a shade under 4 meters. It makes absolutely no sense for Hyundai to be paying heavier taxes and have a poor product positioning just because of an extra length of 181mm. At the current length, 4180mm, the Bayon will end up paying higher taxes (similar to the C-segment cars like the Creta) making it more expensive while offering much smaller dimensions. After all, it’s based on the i20’s platform.

From the buyers’ perspective also, it makes absolutely no sense to be paying 22% higher taxes and then cascading taxes in terms of registration fees and TCS just because a car measures a little longer. Keeping the Bayon’s length same as international spec will make it dead-on-arrival.

Considering how important it is for Hyundai to get this car right, we should expect Hyundai to play it smart and make every move careful. Even if it manages to do 20% of the volumes as compared to the Fronx, that will mean a lot more revenue for what is essentially a larger i20 with slightly more aggressive styling. Just like the Fronx is essentially a Baleno with a slightly different styling.

Hyundai Bayon USP

The Bayon’s USP will be its 1.2L 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine. Currently, no car manufacturer in India offers a 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine in any of their sub-4m cars. Offering a smooth 4-cylinder engine with the punch of a turbocharger would help Hyundai distinguish themselves.

The lower variants, though, which will actually sell in larger numbers, will continue with the 1.2L normal petrol engine and possibly a CVT type automatic transmission. Further helping the Bayon distinguish itself with a smoother automatic.

Baleno → Fronx & i20 → Bayon

Maruti have currently priced the Fronx at about Rs. 75,000 - 85,000 premium over the Baleno. While it also offers a few extra features, most of the higher pricing is justified with just the aggressive styling and higher ground clearance.
On the higher end, the absurdly overpriced higher variants of the Fronx just work as a halo; setting a higher price anchor and helping the lower trims come across as superior value.
The i20 and Baleno, both start at Rs. 6.0 lakh (ex-sh) but the Baleno tops out at ~Rs. 9.0 lakh while the i20 goes up to Rs. 10.57 lakh. If you factor in the i20 turbo, the prices jump to Rs. 11.67 lakh (ex-sh).

2026 Hyundai Bayon Expected Price Range

We know that Hyundai have a tendency to price their products a little higher than rivals — especially compared to Maruti Suzuki.
We should expect the Bayon 2026 base model to cost Rs. 7.0 lakh. For reference, the Fronx starts at Rs. 6.85 lakh.
For the Bayon top model, the ex-showroom price tag could stretch up to Rs. 13.0 lakh. That’s roughly, Rs. 1.3 lakh premium over the i20 N Line top model for a more powerful engine and more aggressive styling.
Thus, we arrive at a tentative price range of Rs. 7.0 lakh to Rs. 13.0 lakh for the upcoming Hyundai Bayon 2026 — the Maruti Fronx competitor.
