Which Variant Of The Toyota Ebella Should You Buy?

If you’re buying the Ebella EV only for short distance city driving or as a secondary car, then the smaller battery has enough range and basic features to meet your needs. Since the 49kWh battery pack is only available with the base model, you don’t have much choice here.

However, if you want to use the Ebella as your primary car for city as well as highway driving, then the 61kWh battery pack is your best option. In this case, again, the variant selection is quite straightforward. Depending on your preference for ADAS features, you can choose either of the higher 2 variants.

What Are The Powertrain Specifications Of The Toyota Ebella?

Comparing the specs of Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella with the smaller battery pack with rivals, we can see that its power output is better than that of the Creta Electric and Windsor, both of which have similar performance. However, in terms of torque output, the Ebella and Evitara twins are the worst among its peers; with Ebella faring worse still with only 189Nm of torque. The Windsor 38 and Curvv 45 have 200Nm and 215Nm of peak torque while the Creta EV, despite its poor power figure, has a phenomenal torque output of 255Nm.

Things change though, when we compare the battery packs. Even the Ebella and Evitara’s base battery pack option is quite chunky with 49kWh capacity. It’s comparable with Windsor’s larger battery pack. It’s also the Windsor here, with the smallest battery pack with only 37.9kWh capacity.

Naturally, the Windsor 38 will offer the worst range figure here. Based on our testing, the Evitara 61 delivered a mileage of about 6.21kmpu. Reverse calculating based on this figure, we would say that you can expect 350km range from the Ebella 49 and Evitara 49.

With the larger battery pack, the game gets tough as BE6 also joins the battle. The BE6 with its base 59kWh battery pack has the best performance here churning out 231PS of power and a massive 380Nm of torque. The Ebella loses out to all of its rivals in this area with only 189Nm of torque. The Evitara isn’t much better as it only has 4Nm better torque output.

In terms of range, the two Japanese electric cars with the larger battery pack can deliver around 440km of range with a full charge. This figure is comparable with most of the cars in this comparison as each can run for 400km+ in real world driving. In fact, it is the best among its peers. The Windsor 53 falls quite short here with only about 380km of realistic range. This is the only car in this table with a realistic range of less than 400km. Even the Creta Electric, with its smaller 51.4kWh battery pack can deliver 400km of driving range in the real world.

What Are The Dimensions Of The Toyota Ebella?

The Ebella shares pretty much everything with the Evitara. It is fairly wide but not as wide as the BE6. 18-inch alloy wheels are standard for Evitara and Ebella across all variants. Only the BE6 here offers huge, 20-inch wheels in some variants. Meanwhile, the Creta EV is the only one to offer nothing larger than 17-inch wheels in any variant.

On the boot space front, the Evitara and Ebella are both falling short again with the cargo volume going as low as 238 litres with the seats in the rear-most position.

Ebella and Evitara’s ground clearance details are currently not available but we expect at least 180mm of clearance considering that the two cars are posing as SUVs. 180mm is pretty much the baseline for a car to claim the tag of an SUV. Hence, the missing information about the MG ZS and BYD Atto 3 in this comparison.
