2026 Hyundai Bayon – Top 5 Things To Know About Upcoming SUV | V3Cars

Hyundai are preparing to expand their lineup in India with a brand new crossover positioned between the Venue and Creta. Believed to be based on the global Bayon crossover, the upcoming SUV was spied testing on Indian roads recently ahead of its expected launch later this year.

2026 Hyundai Bayon SUV India Launch Details, Engine, Features

The new Hyundai SUV is expected to target buyers looking for something more spacious and premium than the Venue but more affordable and distinctive than the Creta. Here are the top 5 things you should know about the upcoming Hyundai Bayon-based SUV for India.

1. It Will Slot In Between Venue And Creta

The upcoming Hyundai crossover is expected to measure around 4.2 metres in length, placing it neatly between the Venue and Creta in Hyundai’s SUV portfolio. Unlike the Venue, which is constrained by sub-4m tax regulations, the Bayon-based SUV is likely to prioritise cabin space, practicality and road presence.

This positioning could help Hyundai target buyers who find the Venue too compact but do not want to stretch to Creta pricing. Initially, we expected the Hyundai Bayon-based SUV to rival the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Fronx, Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor, Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger. However, it seems like Hyundai are targeting the C-segment SUVs such as the Maruti Suzuki Victoris with this upcoming SUV.

2. The Design Could Be More Crossover Than Traditional SUV

Unlike the upright and boxy styling of the Venue and Creta, the Bayon-based SUV appears to adopt a more crossover-like silhouette. Spy shots reveal a sloping roofline, chunky body cladding, thick roof rails and a relatively upright rear section.

The rear LED tail-lamps look heavily inspired by the global-spec Bayon and feature a sharp, angular signature. The overall stance appears more rugged and muscular than the international model, suggesting Hyundai may have made India-specific design tweaks to better suit local buyer preferences.

3. Expect A More Spacious Cabin Than Venue

Since the upcoming model is expected to sit on a longer wheelbase than the Venue, buyers can expect noticeable gains in rear-seat room and luggage capacity. Hyundai are likely to focus heavily on practicality, especially since this segment increasingly caters to family buyers upgrading from hatchbacks and compact SUVs.

The taller roofline and flatter rear design visible in the spy shots also indicate that Hyundai are prioritising usable cabin space rather than chasing a coupe-SUV profile.

4. Hyundai Could Offer Petrol And CNG Powertrains

The Bayon-based SUV is expected to share its engine lineup with the Venue initially. This means buyers could get the familiar 1.2L normal petrol and 1L turbo-petrol engine options.

More importantly, Hyundai are also expected to introduce a factory-fitted dual-cylinder CNG option with the normal petrol engine. If launched, this would make it Hyundai’s first CNG SUV above 4 metres in India. The twin-cylinder layout could help preserve usable boot space, similar to Tata’s CNG setup.

At the moment, there is no confirmation regarding hybrid powertrains. However, Hyundai may eventually consider electrified options depending on market demand and emissions regulations.

5. Will Offer Several Premium Features

2026 Hyundai Bayon Infotainment-system

Hyundai have consistently positioned themselves strongly on features, and the Bayon-based SUV is unlikely to be an exception. The new crossover is expected to borrow several premium features from the Creta and Venue.

Expected features include:

  • Dual 10.25-inch screens for infotainment and instrumentation
  • Panoramic sunroof
  • Ventilated front seats
  • Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
  • Connected car technology
  • 360-degree camera
  • Ambient lighting
  • Level-2 ADAS features on top variants

Hyundai could use features and technology as key differentiators against rivals in this increasingly crowded segment.

2026 Hyundai Bayon Launch Timeline And Expected Price

The 2026 Hyundai Bayon-based SUV is likely to launch in the second half of 2026. We expect the upcoming Hyundai Bayon to be priced between Rs. 10 lakh and Rs. 17 lakh (ex-showroom). Meanwhile, the next-gen Creta, which is likely to launch in March 2027, is expected to move further upmarket.
