Next-Gen Hyundai Creta Likely To Launch In March 2027 | V3Cars
Hyundai are expected to launch the 3rd-generation Hyundai Creta in India around March 2027. While official details remain scarce at the moment, early reports suggest the new Creta could bring significant upgrades in terms of platform, technology, interior sophistication and electrification.
The next-generation Creta is likely to follow the template set by the 2nd-generation Kia Seltos, with both SUVs expected to share a closely related architecture, powertrain lineup and feature set.
Given the current Creta’s dominance in the C-segment SUV space, Hyundai are unlikely to take radical risks with the formula. Instead, the focus will probably shift towards making the SUV more premium, more efficient and more technology-heavy.
2027 Creta Likely To Share Platform With New Seltos
The upcoming Creta is expected to move to Hyundai-Kia’s newer-generation platform, which currently underpins the 2nd-gen Seltos.
This updated platform could bring improvements in:
- Cabin packaging
- Structural rigidity
- Ride quality
- NVH insulation
- Hybrid compatibility
- Safety performance

Hyundai and Kia have increasingly aligned their global and Indian product strategies over the past few years, making extensive component sharing a core part of their development approach. As a result, the next Creta and Seltos are expected to remain mechanically very similar underneath their distinct styling.
Familiar Engine Options Expected Initially
At launch, the 3rd-gen Creta is expected to continue with a familiar set of petrol and diesel engine options borrowed from the Kia Seltos.
These are likely to include:
- 1.5L normal petrol
- 1.5L turbo petrol
- 1.5L turbo diesel
Transmission choices could also remain similar, including:
- 6-speed manual
- CVT automatic
- 7-speed dual-clutch automatic (DCT)
- Torque converter (TC) automatic for diesel variants

Hyundai are unlikely to abandon diesel immediately, especially considering how important diesel continues to be in the C-SUV segment.
Strong Hybrid Powertrain Could Arrive Later
One of the biggest expected developments for the 3rd-generation Creta is the possible introduction of a strong-hybrid petrol powertrain at a later stage.
Hybrid technology is rapidly becoming important in the C-segment SUV category, especially with rising fuel prices and stricter emissions norms. Rivals such as the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Maruti Suzuki Victoris and the new Renault Duster already offer strong-hybrid options. Future rivals such as the Nissan Tekton are also expected to enter the segment with strong-hybrid powertrain options.
To remain competitive in the long term, Hyundai may eventually introduce a Creta hybrid capable of delivering significantly higher fuel efficiency while retaining the practicality and refinement buyers expect from the SUV.
Features Could Take Inspiration From The New Seltos
The third-gen Creta is also expected to become considerably more premium inside. Hyundai will likely borrow several features and technologies from the 2nd-generation Seltos, especially as buyers increasingly prioritise cabin tech and comfort features in this segment.
Expected highlights could include:
- Larger dual 12.3-inch displays
- Panoramic curved display setup
- New connected car features
- Panoramic sunroof
- Ventilated front and rear seats
- 360-degree camera
- Level 2 ADAS
- Powered front seats
- Digital key functionality
- Enhanced ambient lighting

Hyundai may also redesign the dashboard entirely with a cleaner and more minimalistic layout similar to newer Hyundai products such as the 2026 Venue.
Design Evolution Rather Than Radical Change Expected
The current Hyundai Creta remains one of the best-selling SUVs in India, so Hyundai are unlikely to dramatically alter its core identity.
Instead, expect the 3rd-generation model to evolve the current design with:
- Sharper LED lighting
- More upright SUV proportions
- Stronger road presence
- Cleaner surfacing
- New alloy wheel designs
- More aerodynamic detailing
The styling direction could also align more closely with Hyundai’s newer global SUVs and EV-inspired design language.
