The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) have amended the Central Motor Vehicles Rules (CMVR), 1989, to formally recognise E100 fuel for compatible flex-fuel vehicles.  The change creates a clearer regulatory pathway for automakers to develop and certify vehicles that can run on higher ethanol blends, including fuel containing 100% ethanol. However, it does not mean that existing petrol cars can use E100 or that the fuel will become available at every petrol pump immediately.

Hyundai have launched the Bayon at an introductory starting price of Rs. 10 lakh (ex-showroom). Buyers can choose a 1.5L normal petrol engine with either a 6-speed manual transmission or CVT automatic.

Mahindra have launched the XUV 3XO CNG, officially called the XUV 3XO ZNG, with prices ranging from Rs. 9.99 lakh to Rs. 12.27 lakh. The factory-fitted CNG SUV is available in 4 variants and gets a 1.2L turbo engine producing 112PS and 200Nm in both petrol and CNG modes. It also offers a claimed CNG mileage of 24.7kmpkg.

Renault have launched the 2026 Duster strong hybrid at introductory prices ranging from Rs. 16.99 lakh to Rs. 19.49 lakh (ex-showroom). Available in 3 variants, the Duster hybrid combines a 1.8L petrol engine with electric assistance and claims an ARAI-certified mileage of 29kmpl. Deliveries will begin on November 6, 2026.

Maruti Suzuki have launched the Victoris Aurum Edition to mark the SUV’s first anniversary. Offered for the strong hybrid variants, it adds exterior styling accessories, cabin and boot mats, and a boot sill guard as a kit which costs Rs. 22,990.

The Mahindra Thar Roxx is expected to receive mechanical and cosmetic upgrades soon. Recent test mule sightings hint at a new suspension setup and redesigned alloy wheels borrowed from the recently-launched 3-door Thar OG.
