Scoop: MG Windsor Free Charging Offer Is Back … Sort Of | V3Cars

We have recently learned from reliable sources that MG are once again offering free public charging to new Windsor buyers. However, this time around, the terms and conditions are different from those applicable to the early adopters way back in 2024.

Exclusive: MG Windsor Gets Free Charging Offer In April 2026

Here are the particulars of the free public charging offer for Windsor buyers in April 2026:

  • Only applicable for bookings made in the first half of April 2026
  • Full payment for the car must be completed within the month of April 2026
  • Offer will be activated once the car is delivered to the customer
  • Offer will remain active till end of April 2027
  • Offer includes 1000kWh worth of free public charging, estimated to be around Rs. 25,000
  • Vehicle must be registered in individual’s name; not applicable for company registration
  • Offer is only applicable for model year 2026 cars and not 2025 manufactured units

MG Backtracking Track Record

Back in 2024, when MG first launched the Windsor, they also announced with it free unlimited public charging for up to 1 year for all customers who are taking delivery before the start of new year. However, MG soon announced that even their early adopters won’t get the benefit promised at launch.

In February 2025, MG limited free public charging to 1000kWh or units per account from the date of purchase. So, if someone had already used more than 1000 units, their free public charging would no longer work.

Moreover, they didn’t bring back the free charging offer for the Windsor or any other EV in their lineup — until now. So, this is the first time Windsor buyers, other than the early adopters, are getting a taste of free public charging along with the purchase of a new car. Even this offer is likely to be discontinued for Windsor buyers who don’t buy the car in April 2026 and it may be used again as and when necessary to scale up demand for the car.

Buyer’s Remorse

As far as buyer loyalty goes, giving discounts to sell stock, which earlier sold at full price is like a form of cheating when you see it from the buyers’ perspective. Those who show trust in a brand and buy a car early end up paying more for the same product than those who wouldn’t mind buying something else. So, the loyalty among buyers takes a hit.

Moreover, giving free charging to new customers paying in a certain time window while ignoring those who have bought the car in the last 15 months or so is bound to create buyer’s remorse. Thus, further affecting loyalty among car buyers. Such moves also erode the resale value of the customers who already own the same car.

Discounts Galore

Based on the discount information of the 2025 manufactured Windsor is getting a healthy discount of up to Rs. 85,000 with 37.9kWh variants and Rs. 50,000 with 52.9kWh variants. The MY2026 Windsor 38 and 53 variants are all getting up to Rs. 50,000 worth of discounts along with the free charging offer.

So, clearly, the MG Windsor is not moving off the dealer lots as it used to as we have seen discounts stretch in the last few months. Free public charging of 1000kWh is also a form of offer or discount to move some stock. Moreover, if MG still have 2025 variants lying around, then, that’s a clear sign that the car is no longer generating the kind of demand and interest among buyers as it used to.

More Options

The competition is hot now as we have the Maruti EVitara and the Toyota Ebella on the horizon. The Sierra EV is also likely to go on sale in the coming months. For those interested in longer range, the Mahindra XEV 9S 79 starts from just Rs. 22.0 lakh (ex-sh). For buyers who want the most stress free ownership experience, the Clavis EV and Creta EV are also on sale with 6-figure discounts. Now, even their lower variants get the larger battery option.

For buyers who strictly want a small EV for city use, the Punch EV 2026 is looking like a solid option with larger battery packs, more features and a lower price tag.
