We have recently learned that MG are planning to bring the starting price of the Windsor EV back to its launch price of ~Rs. 13.50. However, this is not going to happen with a price drop of the Excite base model. Instead, the Excite 38 variant will get a price hike of Rs. 10,000.

According to our sources, MG will introduce a new base model of the Windsor, which is most likely going to be called Commute. We do not have the exact pricing or feature details of this new base variant but we can confirm that besides the Excite 38 variant, MG will also increase the prices of the Windsor 53 top model by Rs. 10,000. Prices of the rest of the Windsor variants will remain the same.
MG have had a good run in the commercial space with the ZS EV. Although, with the end of BluSmart operations, the ZS EV seems to have lost a good number of sales.
We also know that any car that is able to get a strong foothold in the commercial segment manages to get consistent demand. Dzire, Innova, Ertiga, WagonR are just a few examples. As the tensions in the middle east continue to sustain for over a month, this new variant could be an attempt at bringing the Windsor to the commercial buyers. Fleet and commercial buyers are extremely cost conscious and want greater certainty over the fuel and maintenance expenses. This helps them estimate future income and expenses and plan the business operations accordingly.
Besides, the Windsor is a solid option for commercial buyers. It has tremendous amounts of rear seat space, although, with poor underthigh support. It is smooth, silent and it has a lot of luggage space too. Even with commercial electricity costs, the Windsor is an extremely cost effective option for commercial buyers.
