MG Motor, where MG expands to Morris Garages, is a British automobile manufacturer, now owned by SAIC of China. In India, MG Motor started selling its first car -- Hector -- in 2019. The carmaker has plans to introduce more SUVs in the market, with its second product being an electric SUV -- eZS. At the time of launch of its first product in India, MG had a dealership network of around 50 locations. The carmaker had appointed dealerships in select states only. The third product from MG will be a seven-seat derivative of the Hector SUV, which will truly rival the Mahindra XUV500. At launch, MG Motor's Hector SUV was the first SUV in its segment to get a 48V hybrid powertrain.
The Hector was launched with the option of both petrol and diesel engines. MG Motor is expected to offer more SUVs in the country, but the carmaker is open to offering hatchbacks and sedans as well.
