The Fortuner TRD is only a cosmetically enhanced version of the regular Fortuner and doesn’t feature any upgrades to mechanicals.

What’s the difference between Fortuner TRD & regular model?

The cosmetic upgrades on offer on the Fortuner TRD are:

  • Front bumper and rear bumper spoiler
  • TRD radiator grille garnish
  • Dual-tone roof
  • 18-inch black alloy wheels
  • Black and maroon leather seats
  • Red stitching on upholstery

The Fortuner TRD is available in just one Pearl White exterior colour option.

As far as the powertrain is concerned, the Fortuner TRD is powered by the 2.8-litre diesel engine from the regular Fortuner. This engine makes a maximum power of 177PS and peak torque of 450Nm. It is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

The Fortuner TRD shares its features list with the regular diesel-AT 4x2 model. Some of the highlight features on offer on the TRD are:

  • Vehicle stability control
  • Hill assist control
  • Seven airbags
  • ABS
  • LED projector headlamps
  • LED DRLs
  • LED fog lamps
  • Powered bootlid
  • Electrically-adjustable and foldable ORVMs
  • Cruise control
  • Tilt and telescopic steering
  • Automatic AC
  • Powered driver and passenger seat

Is it worth buying the Fortuner TRD over the regular model?

The Fortuner TRD will stand out from the regular model in terms of how it looks not just from the outside, but from inside as well. However, a Rs 2.15 lakh sum for the upgrade is hefty, that when there are no mechanical changes on offer. Ar Rs 33.85 lakh, the Fortuner TRD is the most expensive version of the Fortuner on offer in India, even more expensive than 4x4 diesel-AT Fortuner by Rs 25,000!
