It is known that Renault India has been working on a brand new MPV model. Still known by its codename RBC, the new upcoming Renault RBC is going to a sub-4 meter MPV model, but is said to be coming in a 7-seater configuration. It is also expected to come with a highly aggressive price range in order to attract buyers.
Renault has been working to boost its sales in India, as the French car maker’s sales have been getting affected in the highly competitive car market of India. The Renault Duster SUV has lost its previous fame for quite some time, and the Kwid small hatchback has been the only great selling product from the Renault stable in India. The French car maker got phenomenal success and became a household name with the Renault Kwid entry level hatchback in India. However, even the Kwid has been witnessing sales dip and the company really needs a fresh new launch to attract more buyers. The last new model launch from the company was the Captur SUV, but the model never really achieved the amount of attention or sales to meet Renault India’s expectations. Thus, now Renault is preparing to launch the all-new RBC MPV which is based on its bestselling Kwid’s platform.
This is also important to say that just like the Kwid, Renault is again taking a very bold decision to launch the RBC MOV. While the Kwid went ahead to fight with India’s top selling Maruti Suzuki Alto and revolutionized the entry level hatchback segment of the country, the upcoming RBC will be launching in the currently dull Indian MPV market. The capable Renault Lodgy MPV also couldn’t make a mark in the Indian car market. The Indian MPV market has been really dull with the advent of the new SUVs. Apart from the all-time favourite Toyota Innova (Crysta) and the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga nothing is actually drawing sustainable sales. Nevertheless, Renault is resolute to try in the MPV market and garner great sales with the upcoming RBC. Positioned below the Lodgy, the RBC’s draw points are expected to be its 7-seater configuration, attractive features list, good looks along with an aggressive price tag.
As per the recent reports, the upcoming new Renault RBC will have a price range of around Rs. 4.8 lakhs. If really true, then the RBC will be cheaper than the Maruti Ertiga, and price-wise will primarily fight against its Japanese cousin Datsun GO Plus. The Go Plus received a major update in 2018, but the RBC is expected to be more premium.
The RBC will be flaunting V-shaped radiator grille along with LED lights. The MPV will get sharply designed headlights, attractive LED tail lights and new sporty front and rear bumpers. It will have a sort of tall-boy design to ensure an airy interior space with good headspace.
The RBC is based on the updated version of the Kwid’s CMF-A architecture. The MPV is expected to come equipped with a 1.0 litre turbocharged petrol mill with manual as well AMT transmission options.
The upcoming new Renault RBC subcompact MPV is likely to hit the Indian market by mid-2019. It is expected to offer a touchscreen integrated infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, while safety equipments would include standard driver’s side airbag, Anti-lock Braking System with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution and much more.
