Top 10 Features Of 2026 Tata Punch Facelift | V3Cars

Bookings for the 2026 Tata Punch facelift are currently open. Priced from Rs. 5.59 lakh to Rs. 10.54 lakh (introductory, ex-showroom), the Punch small SUV is available in 8 variants with 5 powertrain options. With new powertrain options, added convenience features and segment-relevant tech, Tata have clearly focused on improving everyday usability while retaining the Punch’s rugged appeal.

Top 10 Features Of Tata Punch Facelift

Here are the top 10 features of the Punch facelift:

1. New Powertrain Options

Punch 1.2L Turbo Petrol Engine

The biggest upgrade in the Punch facelift lies under the bonnet. The 2026 Punch now gets the option of a 1.2L turbo petrol engine paired with a 6-speed manual transmission, offering significantly better performance. For reference, the Punch turbo petrol offers 120PS of power and 170Nm of torque, which is 32PS and 55Nm more than the Punch normal petrol variants.

While this engine is an all-new option for the Punch small SUV, it is a familiar unit as the Nexon also utilises the same engine. Surprisingly, while the Punch turbo petrol comes with a 6-speed manual transmission, the lower variants of the Nexon are still offered with a 5-speed manual. Some of you may remember that this engine was also offered in the now-discontinued Altroz Racer, initially with a 5-speed manual with an output of 110PS and 140Nm, and later upgraded to a 6-speed manual with the same output as the new Punch turbo petrol.

Apart from the turbo petrol engine, Tata Motors have also introduced a new CNG-automatic powertrain option for the Punch 2026. Equipped with a 5-speed automated manual transmission (AMT), the Punch is the only CNG-powered SUV in its segment to offer the convenience of 2-pedal operation.

2. Twin CNG Cylinder Technology

Punch Twin CNG Cylinder

The Tata Punch 2026 retains its predecessor's twin CNG cylinder technology, which utilises 2 smaller 30 litre cylinders hidden underneath the boot floor instead of a large 60 litre tank in the boot. This setup helps free up usable boot space compared to conventional single-cylinder layouts, making the Punch CNG far more practical for daily use.

Tata Motors debuted the twin CNG cylinder tech with the Altroz CNG in May 2023 followed by the Punch CNG in August the same year. Soon, other Tata CNG cars such as the Nexon, Tiago and Tigor got this feature too. Apart from these Tata models, the only other cars to offer this feature are the Hyundai Exter and Grand i10 Nios as well as the Maruti Suzuki Victoris.

3. Direct Start With CNG

Unlike older CNG systems that require starting in petrol mode, the Punch CNG variants can start directly in CNG mode, improving convenience and reducing petrol dependency for city users. This feature is also available in other Tata models such as the Tiago CNG and Tigor CNG.

4. Improved Ground Clearance

Punch Ground Clearance

The Punch facelift offers 193mm of ground clearance, up from 187mm on the outgoing model. This subtle but significant change reinforces the Punch’s positioning as a rugged small SUV and improving its ability to tackle bad roads and speed breakers. For reference, the Punch sits 8mm and 3mm higher off the ground than the Exter and Fronx, respectively.

5. Paddle Shifters (Accomplished Plus S Only)

The top Accomplished Plus S variant gets paddle shifters with the AMT, giving drivers more control during overtakes and highway driving. While the Hyundai Exter and Fronx too offer paddle shifters in their top AMT variants, the Punch is the only small SUV to offer this feature with a CNG-automatic powertrain.
