The highly anticipated all-new Tata Altroz hatchback model is expected to be unveiled in India in August 2019. The Altroz will be fighting in the cutthroat premium hatchback market segment with the likes of the highly established Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai i20, Honda Jazz, Volkswagen Polo and Toyota Glanza. The Tata Altroz had its world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year and has drawn major attention for being one of the best designed new-age Tata cars.
Looks matter in this segment, which is why Tata has worked hard to get the right design and styling for Altroz. It is the first Tata car to be based on the all-new ALFA (Agile Light Flexible Advanced) Architecture. ALFA Architecture offers various advantages such as scalability, easier adaptability to multiple body types (hatchback, sedan, SUV, etc.), support for hybrid and electric variants, support for multiple powertrains, increased luggage space, roomier cabin space, ample provision for utility areas, and improved safety.
The Tata Altroz hatch has been spied on many occasions, but most recently it was spotted testing on the tough and rugged roads of the picturesque Leh, Ladakh. While the production-spec Altroz’s test mule in Leh was spotted with heavy camouflage, another test prototype was caught recently up close. These spy pics of this test prototype showed the car donned in bright red exterior paint for the first time.
This Altroz premium hatchback is the first product from the house of Tata Motor to have been built on the company’s new ALFA ARC platform. The production-spec model looks very close to its concept model. The test prototype was caught flaunting 16 inch alloy wheel and 185/50 tyres. The close look at the front facade of the Altroz also revealed that the car will be equipped with halogen projector headlamps along with LED Daytime Running Lights.
On the inside, the Altroz was spied flaunting a dual-tone black and grey interior colour scheme which was also shown in the recent teaser images of the hatchback. The seat upholstery comes in a dark monotone fabric. The recently spied prototype model that was spied very up-close was a manual variant, and its interior was equipped with a touchscreen integrated infotainment display.
The homegrown auto giant will be launching the Atroz premium hatchback model equipped with three engine choices: namely - 1.2 litre naturally aspirated petrol, 1.2 litre turbocharged petrol and a diesel motor options. The car is expected to be offered in both manual and automatic transmission options, but concrete details regarding the transmission gearbox options are yet not available.
The all-new Tata Altroz premium hatchback is not only going to be a very handsome looking car, being a premium model it is also expected to be loaded to the brim with an array of premium features and latest techs in order to its established market rivals. However, despite great looks and features, being a product from Tata Motors, the Altroz is expected to carry its maker’s patent quality of high affordability and hence, it is likely to launch in the price range of around Rs. 5.5 lakhs to Rs. 8.5 lakhs.
