Should You Buy Tata Nexon Petrol Or Nexon EV?

The Nexon EV costs Rs. 5.3 lakh to Rs. 5.6 lakh more than equivalent variants of the Nexon petrol. That’s a massive price difference one cannot ignore. However, the Nexon EV promises to save you a substantial Rs. 5.0 for every kilometre you drive. Since EVs have fewer wear and tear parts, you stand to gain even more with lower maintenance costs.

The kilometre-to-breakeven figure of around 1,00,000km seems somewhat reasonable. However, if you don’t go on spontaneous drives and don’t foresee any emergencies occurring while the battery is not adequately charged, then the Nexon EV is a suitable choice. For all other buyers, the Nexon petrol’s lower purchase price offers opportunity cost savings and the ability to tank up in 5 minutes, which will remain unbeatable even 10 years down the line.

So, the recommendation is not as straightforward as it typically is with a petrol-diesel comparison. For frequent city driving and high mileage usage, we suggest the Nexon EV over the Nexon petrol. Please note that the EV Max offers even longer range and extra features for not a lot of money. You should certainly consider spending a little more for the EV Max.
