Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Wipro 3D to establish a Centre of Excellence (CoE) in additive manufacturing at the Toyota Technical Training Institute (TTTI) in Bidadi. The collaboration is designed to integrate emerging manufacturing technologies into training programs and help students gain experience in modern production environments.

As part of the engagement, Wipro 3D will provide technical expertise, workforce upskilling, and structured training modules. The program will include internships, apprenticeships, live industry projects, certification courses, workshops and knowledge-sharing initiatives. It will also focus on Kaizen-driven continuous improvement practices and Industry 4.0 technologies such as digital manufacturing, smart systems and resource optimization.

The initiative will support rapid prototyping, development of production aids, lightweight and optimized components and on-demand manufacturing of parts by leveraging Wipro 3D’s capabilities. This is expected to accelerate new product development (NPD), improve assembly line efficiency, reduce lead times, and enhance operational flexibility.

JSW MG Motor India announced that India’s First D+ SUV, the MG MAJESTOR, has set a new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for “Heaviest Train Pulled by a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) on Rail.” The MG MAJESTOR successfully pulled a 406.4 tonne train over a distance of 300 feet on a secured railway section between Kakapora railway station and Awantipora railway station in Jammu and Kashmir. This achievement surpasses the Guinness World Records qualifying benchmarks of 400 tonnes and 100 feet, establishing a new global standard for SUV capability.

The MG MAJESTOR used for the attempt was a standard production vehicle with no engine or drivetrain modifications and/or no traction-enhancing alterations. The record placed the SUV under extreme load conditions, testing its traction management, torque delivery and structural integrity. Powered by a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine delivering 215.5 PS and 478.5 Nm of torque, the MG MAJESTOR executed the pull with measured progression and consistent control, emerging as one of the world’s most capable and resilient SUVs.

The attempt was monitored by independent automotive and motorsport experts to ensure:

• The train movement was solely powered by the MG MAJESTOR
• No external propulsion or assistance was applied
• The vehicle maintained stable, controlled performance across the full pull distance

All parameters, including train weight, track conditions and distance, were professionally documented in accordance with Guinness World Records verification protocols. The train, comprising a WAG-9HC locomotive, passenger coaches and a guard coach, was independently verified at 406 tonnes.

Once again, VinFast has created a stir in its home market after announcing that it completed 3,520 electric vehicle orders in a single day on March 28, marking a new record for daily order processing in Vietnam. This figure is equivalent to the monthly sales of some automakers in the country and translates to an average of 146 orders per hour, or approximately 2.4 orders per minute.

According to the company, these vehicles have been fully processed and are ready to leave the factory. They will then be transported to dealerships before being delivered to customers.

Across online forums and user communities, many expressed surprise at the company’s speed. “Completing more than 3,500 orders in a single day, especially on a weekend, shows the very strong capabilities of VinFast’s production and business teams,” an online user, Phạm Văn Minh, shared.

Another user, Hồng Lan, said the record reflects significant demand for switching to electric vehicles. With fuel prices fluctuating daily, she noted that it is understandable that many gasoline vehicle users are considering switching. “Electric vehicles are cleaner, environmentally friendly, and free from dependence on fuel prices, so the growing shift toward them is an inevitable trend,” she said.

Record after record

Observers believe that with its current advantages, VinFast is highly likely to set other sales records in 2026. Over the past two years, the company has consistently recorded strong sales milestones in the Vietnamese market.

Since 2024, VinFast has maintained the number one position in Vietnam’s automotive market. In 2025, the company delivered 175,099 vehicles. Selected participants will receive mentoring from JSW MG Motor India and its ecosystem partners, along with access to development support, opportunities for testing, and consideration for grant assistance at the jury’s discretion. Applications for the sixth season are live from today, with the final date for submission being April 30, 2026. Shortlisted teams will be mentored ahead of Demo Day on June 1, 2026.

Launched in 2019 in partnership with MG partner companies and tech giants, the MG Developer Program & Grant aims to nurture ground-breaking solutions within the Indian urban mobility space.

The program received over 1550 entries and saw 290+ teams being shortlisted in the first round across seasons 1 to 5. The teams were provided mentorship by 100+ experts, including JSW MG Motor India’s leadership and its technology ecosystem partners, making it the largest mentoring program in the automotive segment. A total of 51 start-ups have already been shortlisted by MG to date as part of MGDP and Grant, and they are working on various pilot projects.

Maruti Suzuki India Limited (“Maruti Suzuki”) has commenced ‘Jagriti’, its flagship event aimed at enhancing awareness on safe driving behavior and health among truck drivers associated with its logistics service providers. The event, being held between 23rd to 28th March 2026, is a part of Maruti Suzuki’s broader sustainability efforts.

The five-day event is being conducted at Maruti Suzuki’s facilities in Manesar (Haryana) from 23rd March and Hansalpur (Gujarat) from 24th March onwards, covering drivers engaged in the movement of finished vehicles and spare parts. Nearly 4,000 truck drivers are expected to benefit from ‘Jagriti’.

Mr. Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director & CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Limited said:

 

“Given the nature of their work, truck drivers spend long hours on the road, travelling across the country. They drive large trucks and trailers, whose safe handling has a direct bearing on road safety. Therefore, it is essential to regularly train them and reinforce the importance of consistently following safe driving practices.”

“During this five-day event, we will conduct focused sessions on key road safety aspects, such as defensive driving, dangers of over speeding, the importance of adequate sleep to improve alertness on the road, refraining from driving under the influence of alcohol, the critical role of seatbelt usage in preventing serious injuries, and regular maintenance of carriers to avoid breakdowns. In addition, we are facilitating preventive health check-ups and eye-tests, along with medical consultations, yoga and meditation sessions for their physical and mental well-being.”
