The Golf GTI will arrive in India as a Completely Built Unit (CBU), which attracts higher duties and taxes. Globally, the GTI is positioned as a high-performance front-wheel-drive hatchback with a strong enthusiast following. In India, it will likely be offered with a fully-loaded feature set, including performance upgrades, digital cockpit and advanced driver aids.

Considering its CBU import status and limited volume strategy, a price tag of ₹45–50 lakh is in line with expectations for a niche performance offering.

The Golf GTI will compete with other premium performance hatchbacks and sport-oriented sedans positioned in a similar price range. Key rivals include the upcoming Skoda Octavia RS and the Mini Cooper S.

2025 Golf GTI Powertrain Specs

It comes paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, sending power to the front wheels. This powertrain will also be used in the upcoming Skoda Octavia vRS. According to Volkswagen, the Golf GTI can accelerate from 0 to 100kmph in 5.9 seconds, with an electronically limited top speed of 250kmph.
