The next-generation of Skoda Octavia is expected to launch in sometime early in 2021.
Skoda is bringing the performance-focused RS245 to India early in 2020. So, we can’t expect Skoda to launch the next-generation Octavia soon after. The RS245 will keep the Octavia brand fresh for some time.
The next-generation Skoda Octavia could carry a price tag ranging from Rs. 20.0 lakh to Rs. 30.0 lakh (ex-showroom).
For the international market, the 2020 Octavia will get a bunch of different engine options. The most likely candidates for India are:
For the petrol manual transmission, these figures are similar to what the 1.4-litre petrol engine offers. The 2020 Octavia doesn’t get the 1.8-litre turbo petrol engine and the 2.0-litre turbo petrol isn’t available in 2-wheel drive mode. So, expect similar performance from the petrol automatic as well. The current Octavia has a 180PS 1.8-litre turbo petrol engine with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic.
The 2.0-litre diesel engine will continue with the next-generation Skoda Octavia with 150PS and 340Nm. It’ll also come with the same transmission options - a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. The current Skoda Octavia diesel has a 6-speed automatic.
As per the European test cycle (NEDC), the Skoda Octavia with a 2.0-litre turbo diesel and 7-speed automatic delivers a fuel efficiency figure of 27.7kmpl. The 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine with a 6-speed manual transmission runs 20.4kmpl on the same NEDC test. The figures for other engine transmission combinations will be revealed later.
The international version of the 2020 Skoda Octavia comes with a lot of features like adaptive cruise control, advanced collision avoidance system, and such, but we probably won’t get these features. However, the following features from the new Octavia may make it to the India-spec Octavia:
We can also expect it to have features like:
And more features that we’ve come to expect from a car in its class.
