2020 Hyundai Aura vs Honda Amaze - Petrol Engine Spec Comparison
The Honda Amaze has an advantage over the Aura’s 1.2-litre normal petrol engine as it has more power. But, it has less torque and the peak torque also comes higher at 4800rpm. So, while the Honda’s engine might be more enjoyable to drive enthusiastically, the Hyundai’s engine will help you crawl better in a traffic jam.
If you want more power, then you can take the Aura’s 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine. It has a higher power output but more importantly, it has significantly better torque output covering the low and mid-range of the rev band.
If you want a smooth automatic transmission, then you can go with the slightly more expensive CVT automatic. For most of the buyers, though, the Aura’s cheaper 5-speed AMT will do just fine. So, the Hyundai Aura’s petrol engines should cover the needs of most buyers - even those who want some performance from their subcompact sedan.
The Aura will have BS6 petrol engines from day one, but the Amaze will also soon get BS6 update ahead of the April 1, 2020 deadline.

2020 Hyundai Aura vs Honda Amaze - Diesel Engine Spec Comparison
Comparing the diesel engines is again a lot like comparing the petrol engines of the two cars. The Honda Amaze’s 1.5-litre diesel engine has more power and torque - if you want the manual transmission. With the refined CVT automatic transmission, the power output drops from 100PS to 80PS and the torque output drop from 200Nm to 160Nm.
While most of you will appreciate the finesse of a CVT, you’ll probably do just fine with the Aura’s cheaper AMT type automatic. It offers more torque and costs less too.
The Aura also has an advantage over the Amaze as it has BS6 engines. The Amaze’s diesel engines will also get the BS6 update sometime in 2020. But, for now, we don’t know if you’ll be able to buy a subcompact sedan with a diesel engine in April 2020. The Amaze diesel automatic is likely to get better power and torque figures with the BS6 update. For, now, the Aura just seems to offer a well-rounded package that’ll better serve most buyers most of the time.

We don’t know the prices of the Hyundai Aura yet. But we expect its normal petrol 1.2-litre variants to cost between, Rs. 5.5 lakh and Rs. 7.6 lakh with manual transmission. The turbo petrol engine could cost Rs. 80,000 more and therefore the top variant with this engine could cost Rs. 8.4 lakh.
The 1.2-litre diesel engine variants could carry a premium of Rs. 1.1 lakh over comparable petrol variants. So, the prices could start at Rs. 6.6 - 6.7 lakh. Meanwhile, the AMT automatic could cost Rs. 50 - 60,000 more than its equivalent manual transmission variant.
The Honda Amaze is the car to beat for the Hyundai Aura as the Amaze is currently the second most popular choice among subcompact sedan buyers. So, let’s hope Hyundai prices the Aura aggressively to become a car you would want to seriously consider.
For now, we don’t know the prices of the Aura, so we can’t say which car is better in this comparison of prices.
Winner: None
The Amaze has better dimensions as it has a longer wheelbase and bigger boot. But, the Aura has better petrol engine and transmission options and a longer feature list. Without a doubt, the 2020 Hyundai Aura comes across as a better car. Its prices will make it or break it. Until Hyundai declares the prices of the Aura, it seems to beat the Amaze in most areas based on what we know so far.
