In the domestic Indian car market, the company currently offers a total of nice cars, namely the Honda Brio, Honda Amaze, Honda Jazz, Honda WR-V, Honda City, Honda BR-V, Honda Civic, Honda CR-V and Honda Accord Hybrid.
Currently, Honda’s dealership network in India comprises of 229 dealerships spread across 151 Indian cities. The company has plans to bring in new car models in the competitive Indian auto industry.
Honda’s Plants & Production Capacity
Honda Cars India was established back in 1995, and eventually became popular for offering quality cars in the mass market segment. The company’s first manufacturing facility in India is located in Greater Noida in U.P, while it's second manufacturing plant is in Tapukara, Rajasthan. The Greater Noida plant is spread across 150 acres and has a capacity to roll out 1,20,000 vehicles per annum. On the other hand, the Tapukara facility is spread across an area of 450 acres and has the capability to produce 120,000 units of vehicles per year. Thus, Honda Cars India currently has an overall annual production capacity of 240,000 vehicles.
Honda City History, Present, Future & More Details
Honda Cars India’s very first product – the Honda City -- continues to be the company’s most popular product in India till date. The City was first launched in 1998 and became popular soon after. It continues to enjoy an iconic position in the Indian market in its current generation model as well. Honda is expected to introduce a new generation of the City in India, and in various overseas markets, in 2020.
Like the City, Honda Cars India has also evolved with passing time. As an all-petrol carmaker, Honda suffered a drop in market share in India, and then it brought its first diesel model in India in the form of the Honda Amaze subcompact sedan. It is powered by its 1.5-litre, i-DTEC diesel engine. This diesel motor was then offered on other Honda cars like the City and Jazz as well.
