Honda City History, Present, Future & More Details

Honda Cars India’s very first product – the Honda City -- continues to be the company’s most popular product in India till date. The City was first launched in 1998 and became popular soon after. It continues to enjoy an iconic position in the Indian market in its current generation model as well. Honda is expected to introduce a new generation of the City in India, and in various overseas markets, in 2020.

Like the City, Honda Cars India has also evolved with passing time. As an all-petrol carmaker, Honda suffered a drop in market share in India, and then it brought its first diesel model in India in the form of the Honda Amaze subcompact sedan. It is powered by its 1.5-litre, i-DTEC diesel engine. This diesel motor was then offered on other Honda cars like the City and Jazz as well.
