WHICH VARIANT TO BUY?

Which Variant Of The 2020 Hyundai Creta Petrol Should You Buy?

The Hyundai Creta petrol is available with 3 different engine-transmission combinations. So, let’s tackle them one at a time starting with the 1.5L normal petrol engine.

Recommendation

EX

₹9,99,000

Suitable for budget buyers

S

₹11,72,000

SX

₹13,46,000

Top Recommended

For this one, the base EX variant is worth buying for budget buyers. However, if you have experienced some upmarket features in smaller hatchbacks or sedans, then it won’t cut it for you. In that case, the S appears to offer a great balance of functional, must-have and good-to-have features. But, it’s overpriced. Buy this only if you find the EX too basic and the SX too expensive.

If you can stretch your budget and want some upmarket features in your car, then the SX is an easy recommendation. It is well priced for what it offers although, most of its features are not particularly good-to-have at best.

SX(O)

₹16,15,000

Slightly expensive upgrade

If you’re interested in the Creta with the simple 1.5L normal petrol engine and the CVT automatic, then you have SX and SX (O) to choose from. The SX (O) is the cheaper one here and also a better value-for-money package. The SX (O) adds mostly luxurious touches like power driver seat, Bose music system, etc. and is not recommended for most buyers as it’s overpriced.

2020 HYUNDAI CRETA 1.4L TURBO PETROL | AUTOMATIC VARIANTS

Recommendation

SX

SX(O)

₹17,20,000

Worth upgrading

If the 1.5L normal petrol engine’s modest torque output and its easy-going CVT automatic don’t meet your performance expectations, then you should consider the turbo petrol engine. Mind you, the dual-clutch transmission is still a fairly new tech and doesn’t yet have a proven track record for long-term reliability. Even if you’re okay with that, we’d recommend getting the maximum warranty and maintenance package cover.

Besides the additional performance, the Creta turbo also offers some cosmetic touches to differentiate itself from the normal petrol engine variants. Between these two, the SX variant again wins our recommendation as it is a better value for money option. However, the SX (O) is also better priced with this engine than it is with the 1.5L CVT.

Which Variant Of The 2020 Hyundai Creta Diesel Should You Buy?

The Hyundai Creta diesel’s base E variant is a phenomenal value for money. It’s worth buying for budget buyers as it covers most of the must-have features. The E variant is so good, that it makes the EX and S appear overpriced. In isolation, these two variants may not look so expensive.

But, they don’t offer the same return on investment in the form of features for the additional money you pay on top of the E variant. Even if you can stretch your budget for the SX variant, you should skip the EX variant completely and at least consider the S trim. This variant has a better balance of must-have and good-to-have features and is a better value for money than the EX variant.

The SX and SX (O) variants add the option of an automatic transmission to the menu. After the E trim, the SX variant offers the next best value for money and enough upmarket features to satisfy even the demanding buyers’ needs. The SX (O) variant adds mostly good-to-have, luxurious features and is also a bit expensive. So, consider this variant only if you’re okay with the higher asking price for these features.

Regardless of your transmission preferences, the SX variant of the Hyundai Creta diesel remains our top pick followed by the E variant, which offers exceptional value for money.
