Honda City Facelift Base Variant Offers These 15 Features Over Hyundai Verna Base Model | V3Cars
Now that both the Honda City and Hyundai Verna have received updates including a cosmetic makeover for 2026, it’s time to place them side by side and compare their features. While the Verna stands out with its bold styling and feature-loaded higher variants, the 2026 City manages to offer several premium features even in its entry-level SV variant.
In this article, we take a look at the 15 features the Honda City SV base variant offers over the Hyundai Verna HX2 base model. But fist, let’s look at their prices:

- The base variants of both the City and Verna are only available with a normal petrol-manual powertrain
- The City SVbase model costs over Rs. 1 lakh more than the Verna HX2 base variant
1. 8-Inch Touchscreen Infotainment System
One of the biggest advantages of the Honda City from a user standpoint is the inclusion of an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. In comparison, the Verna HX2 does not offer an infotainment system at all, leaving buyers to rely on aftermarket solutions.
The City’s touchscreen also supports wired Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, making it a far more modern and user friendly experience at the base variant level.
2. Fully Automatic Climate Control
Honda offer a fully automatic climate control in the City SV, adding a layer of convenience and premium appeal to the cabin experience.
The Verna HX2, on the other hand, comes with a manual AC setup, which feels basic for the segment and price point.
3. Rear Parking Camera
The 2026 City SV comes equipped with a rear parking camera featuring normal, wide and top-down viewing modes, helping drivers manoeuvre more confidently in tight spaces.
The Verna HX2 misses out on a rear camera entirely, which could be a notable omission for buyers prioritising convenience and safety.
However, both models offer rear parking sensors as standard.
4. Push Button Start/Stop
Honda also offer keyless entry with push button start/stop with the City SV, giving the sedan a more premium feel during everyday use.
The Verna HX2 offers a conventional key-based ignition system.
5. TPMS (Deflation Warning Only)
The City SV gets tyre pressure monitoring system. However, it does not display the tyre pressure of each wheel. It only offers a deflation warning functionality, which alerts the driver when a tyre is losing pressure..
Hyundai does not offer TPMS in the Verna HX2
6. Steering Mounted Audio And Bluetooth Controls
The Honda City SV offers steering-mounted controls for audio and Bluetooth functionality, allowing drivers to access key functions without taking their hands off the steering wheel.
The Verna HX2 misses out on these controls entirely.
7. 4 Speakers
Honda equips the City SV with a 4-speaker audio system from the factory, complementing the touchscreen infotainment setup.
The Verna HX2 does not offer any speakers in the base variant.
8. Auto Folding ORVMs
The City SV also gets electrically adjustable and auto-folding outside rearview mirrors (ORVMs), which add convenience while parking in tight spaces.
The Verna HX2 does not offer the auto-folding function. The ORVMs are electrically-adjustable though.
9. Rear AC Vents
Rear seat passengers in the City SV benefit from dedicated rear AC vents, improving comfort during long journeys and hot weather conditions.
The Verna HX2 does not offer rear AC vents in the base variant.
10. Telescopic Steering Adjustment
Honda offers tilt and telescopic steering with the City SV, allowing drivers to fine-tune their driving position more comfortably.
The Verna HX2 misses out on telescopic adjustment. However, it does offer tilt functionality.
11. Front Armrest With Storage
The City SV gets a front centre armrest with storage, improving practicality and comfort for front occupants.
This feature is absent in the Verna HX2.
12. LED Tail Lamps
Honda offers LED tail lamps in the City SV, which enhance the sedan’s premium appearance from the rear.
The Verna HX2 comes with conventional tail lamps instead.
13. 4.2-Inch Colour MID Display
The City SV features a 4.2-inch colour multi-information display (MID) in the instrument cluster, providing more detailed and visually appealing driving information.
The Verna HX2 gets a more basic monotone display setup.
14. Shark Fin Antenna
Honda also offers a shark fin antenna with the City SV, adding a sportier and more premium touch to the exterior design.
The Verna HX2 misses out on this styling element.
15. Ambient Light In Centre Console Pocket
The City SV includes ambient lighting in the centre console pocket, which subtly enhances the cabin ambience during night-time driving.
This feature is not available in the Verna HX2.
While the Hyundai Verna HX2 undercuts the Honda City SV by Rs. 1.02 lakh, the lack of basics such as an infotainment system, speakers, rear camera, automatic climate control and rear AC vents could leave many buyers feeling compelled to upgrade almost immediately after experiencing the car in person.
In that sense, the Verna HX2 appears strategically positioned to attract buyers with an aggressive starting price of Rs. 10.98 lakh before nudging them towards higher variants. Buyers willing to stretch their budget to around Rs. 12.25 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Verna HX4 gain access to most of the features missing in the HX2, including an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth connectivity, steering-mounted audio and Bluetooth controls, digital instrument cluster with colour MID, front centre armrest with storage, auto climate control, rear AC vents, tilt and telescopic steering adjustment, glovebox cooling, cruise control, idle stop & go and even a sunroof.
That said, the Verna HX4 still misses out on power-folding ORVMs, a feature the Honda City SV already offers at the base variant level.
The Honda City SV, meanwhile, feels like a far more complete package straight out of the box. Instead of aggressively stripping features to hit a lower starting price, Honda has focused on offering a genuinely usable and premium ownership experience even in the base variant. For buyers who do not want to stretch to mid variants just to get essential comfort and convenience features, the City SV presents a much stronger value proposition.
