A Maruti Suzuki S-Presso was recently spotted doing test runs. The test car was wearing red number plates and had an emission testing kit hanging from the boot. Since the car is already BS6-ready, it’s certainly not testing the engine for BS6 compliance. And, we also can’t expect the car to get a diesel engine since we don’t see diesel engines in this category. The only mechanical feature still missing from the S-Presso is a CNG kit.
In its current BS6 form, the S-Presso’s 1.0-litre petrol engine makes 68PS of power and 90Nm of torque. The same engine is also available in the Alto K10. With the CNG kit, the Alto K10 makes 59PS of power and 78Nm of torque. That’s a roughly 13% drop in power and torque. We can expect the S-Presso CNG to also have similar power and torque figures.
The Spresso has big demand as Maruti Suzuki dispatched more than 10,600 units of the S-Presso during the festive month of October. The addition of CNG will make it a better option if you mostly travel within the city and have easy access to CNG stations.
