Czech automaker Skoda has already achieved its goal of producing one million vehicles for the current calendar year of 2017. Skoda along with its production partners across the world has already hit the one million vehicle production mark for this year, while the year is yet to conclude. This is the fourth consecutive year when Skoda has been able to roll out vehicles with a cumulative figure of one million. Moreover, this is the very first time that the Czech car maker has been able to reach this important production milestone early as the month of October in a particular calendar year.
This huge feat was possible because of the bestselling models from the house of Skoda, namely the Octavia, the Superb and the Fabia which have made the greatest contributions. Moreover, Skoda is expected to witness considerable growth in the year 2017 because of its first full-sized 7-seater SUV, the Kodiaq. Moreover, there is also the new Karoq SUV will also offer further growth momentum. The Czech car brand is introducing the new Karoq compact SUV to the global markets and is enhancing its footprint in the highly popular SUV market of the world.
With this landmark of one million cars production by the end of October 2017, Skoda shows its progress over the past 25 years. Skoda joined the German Volkswagen Group back in 1991, and ever since Skoda has amplified its production by seven fold and evolved from a regional auto brand to a high-volume global manufacturer. 25 years ago, Skoda was manufacturing just one model range, and currently the company’s production line is busy rolling out seven models and more than 40 model variants.
Along with its growth, Skoda has also been working towards enhancing its production network. In Czech Republic, Skoda operates from its main manufacturing facility in Mladá Boleslav along with other factories in Kvasiny and Vrchlabí. Apart from these plants, Skoda branded vehicles are also produced at many Volkswagen Group owned manufacturing facilities or with local partners in countries like China, India, Russia, Kazakhstan, Slovakia, Algeria and Ukraine.
Now, Skoda is looking to keep this growth momentum and even further enhance it and for that it has set a long-term growth strategy. This comes in the form of Skoda’s 2025 Strategy. With this strategy, the Czech car maker is getting ready to face the challenges of the highly competitive and advanced global auto industry of the future. Skoda’s future strategy’s primary aspects include electrified models, digitization of the company, internationalization as well as new mobility services. Through this strategy Skoda is looking to achieved two pronged growth. On one hand, Skoda’s vehicle sales volumes are expected to be further increased, and on the other, new business sectors like digital mobility services are likely to offer broad spectrum development.
While commenting on the achievement of the one million vehicle production milestone, Skoda Auto’s Board Member for Production and Logistics, Michael Oeljeklaus said that this is a crucial milestone for the company this year. This figure which has been already achieved showcases the performance of the Skoda production sites and its teams’ expertise and the company is again aiming for a new production record this year.
