Skoda Vision IN SUV Spotted Testing Again; Looks Quite Similar To The Concept

Skoda showcased the Vision IN concept ahead of the 2020 Auto Expo and confirmed that the production-spec SUV will go on sale by mid-2021. Now, while we are just a few months away from the promised deadline, the compact SUV has been spotted testing. Although the test mule was heavily camouflaged, it gave us a glimpse of what to expect from the upcoming SUV.

Skoda Vision IN SUV

From what we can see in the spy shots, the production-spec Vision IN looks quite similar to the concept. Upfront, it features Skoda’s signature 3D butterfly grille flanked by two-part LED headlamps. The bumper looks chunky with a large central air dam. Coming to the side, it looks clean with a sharp should line running across the entire length of the SUV. The test mule rides on 17-inch wheels while the lower variants are expected to get 16-inch units.  Around the back, although the spy shots don’t reveal much, it will get L-shaped tail lamps flanking the SKODA lettering on the tailgate, similar to what we have seen on the concept.

Similarly, the spy shots do not reveal anything about the interior of the new SUV but expect it to be similar to any other modern Skoda SUV like the Kodiaq or Karoq. It is expected to get a dual-tone black and beige setup. As far as features are concerned, Skoda won’t leave any stone unturned when equipping the Vision IN SUV, especially when it is going to compete with the Creta and the Seltos, two of the most well-equipped SUVs under Rs 20 lakh.

Expect it to get features like LED headlamps, LED tail lamps, panoramic sunroof, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless charging and auto AC with rear AC vents. For safety, it should be equipped with up to 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, ISOFIX child seat anchors, hill launch assist, electronic stability program, traction control, hill launch assist and electronic parking brake.

Under the hood, the production-spec Vision IN is expected to be powered by Vento’s 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine making 110PS and 175Nm mated to either a 6-speed MT or a 6-speed torque converter automatic. In the higher variants, it might also get a bigger more powerful 1.5-litre TSI Evo engine that powers the Karoq and the VW T-ROC. It makes 147PS and 250Nm mated to a 7-speed DSG automatic.

Skoda is expected to launch the Vision IN SUV by mid-2021. Prices are expected to range from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 16 lakh. It will compete with likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Renault Duster, Nissan Kicks and the upcoming Volkswagen Taigun.
