Indian auto market is waiting to get the fully off-road focused top of the range Trailhawk variant of the Compass compact SUV. The iconic American SUV maker, Jeep has been encouraged to launch the Compass Trailhawk variant in the Indian market by the huge success of the Compass in the country which is the first ever India-made SUV. The Jeep Compass launched in India back in July 2017 and crossed the sales mark of 20,000 units in seven months since its official India launch, which is a great feat and it is a premium SUV model. The Jeep Compass Trailhawk trim is all ready to launch in India with details out and pre-bookings open, but the company is yet to announce the launch of the top-end rugged model. We think that Jeep India is going to launch the Trailhawk variant in July, 2018 to celebrate the first anniversary of the Jeep Compass.
Jeep Compass Trailhawk was unveiled in India in March this year, during a dealer meeting and boasts of several feature and technical updates to mark itself above the regular Compass variants and to please the hard-core off-road enthusiasts. The Trailhawk will be the new top-end variant of Jeep Compass in India and is likely to be dearer by around Rs.1.5 lakhs than the present range-toping Limited 4X4 (O) diesel variant that is tagged at Rs. 21.91 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi).

First things first, the Compass Trailhawk comes equipped with Jeep’s Active Drive Low-range 4WD technology, which being more advanced than the one of the standard Compass makes the SUV more capable of handling all sorts of terrains and extreme conditions. It also adds a new 'Rock mode' to the SUV’s Selec-Terrain 4WD system. The rugged variant also gets a raised suspension setup, underbody protection skid plates and dual purpose on/off road tires to make it complete lethal off-roader.
Moreover, the Jeep Compass Trailhawk will also offer a sunroof, which is a highly favoured premium feature and a lot of models now offer it in India, even though it’s not actually very handy for the Indian climate conditions.
Apart from the sunroof the other features and exterior updates in the Compass Trailhawk includes blackened body panels, sporty anti-glare bonnet decal, all weather floor mats, revised bumpers for improved arrival and departure angles, dark finished alloy wheels and exposed red tow hooks.
The Jeep Compass Trailhawk variant will also be the only model in the Compass range in India to be offered with a diesel engine equipped with an automatic transmission gearbox. The new top of the range variant will be getting equipped with a new sophisticated 9 speed automatic transmission paired with the same 2.0 litre Fiat MultiJet diesel engine that has the capability to offer a max power of 170.6 bhp along with a top torque of 350 Nm.
