Maruti Suzuki has launched the much awaited new 2018 Ciaz facelift in India at the starting price from Rs 8.19 lakh to 9.97 lakh for the petrol manual, Rs 9.8 lakh to 10.97 lakh for the petrol automatic and from Rs 9.19 lakh to 10.97 lakh for the diesel variant (all prices, ex-showroom). Available in 11 different variants with prices ranging from Rs 8.19 lakh to Rs 10.97 lakh (both prices ex-showroom), the 2018 Ciaz receives a number of updates compared to the outgoing model.
The biggest change comes in the form of the powertrain as the updated sedan comes powered by a new 1.5-litre petrol engine producing 103 bhp of maximum power and churns out 138 Nm of peak torque, while the 1.3-litre diesel engine has been carried forward from the predecessor churning out 89 bhp of power and 200 Nm of peak torque. Both engines come with the mild hybrid technology and are offered with the choice of manual and automatic transmission. The next-generation Smart Hybrid System of the new Ciaz features idle start-stop, torque assist and brake energy regeneration.
In terms of looks, the new 2018 Maruti Suzuki Ciaz facelift gets heavily designed sharper front-end along with LED projector auto headlamps with prominent brow-shaped DRLs, while the rear gets similar treatment to the existing model but gets minor tweaks to the tail lamps. LED rear lamps with dynamic flow design are the other highlights at the rear of the sedan. However, the Ciaz facelift continues to sport 16-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels in dual tone Metallic Pebble Grey finish at the sides of the car.
Talking about the interior, the 2018 Ciaz facelift offers new light-colored faux wood inlays, a newly designed instrument cluster and touchscreen infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The instrument cluster also sports multi-information TFT display and driving mode illumination. The safety features on the new Maruti Ciaz include a high-speed warning alert, reverse parking sensors, driver and passenger seat belt reminder alert, ISOFIX child seat restraint system, dual airbags and ABS with EBD. Also, electronic stability program (ESP) with ‘hill hold’ function. All these features come standard across the variants except for the ‘hill hold’ that comes standard across the automatic variants only. Other features include cruise control, auto headlamp and auto headlamp leveling.
First launched in 2015 in the country, Ciaz has been the A3+ segment leader for the last 2 years and in the Indian market it continues to compete against the likes of Toyota Yaris, Hyundai Verna and Honda City in the segment. The sedan will be sold through the Maruti Suzuki Nexa network. Stay tuned to V3cars.com for further updates from Maruti Suzuki.
