American auto major Ford has added a new variant to the updated Ford EcoSport’s lineup in India with the introduction of Titanium+ Petrol model trim. This new added petrol top variant will be giving more choice and an added premium feel to the buyers of the popular Ford EcoSport subcompact SUV. The new Ford EcoSport Titanium+ petrol trim has been priced at Rs. 10.47 lakhs (ex-showroom, across India). Ford India said that the company has introduced this new variant as a result of customer demand.
Ford EcoSport SUV launched in its comprehensively updated avatar in India in November 2017. The facelift model introduced Ford's new 3-cylinder 1.5L Ti-VCT petrol mill from the new Dragon engine family in India.
While speaking about the launch of the new Ford EcoSport Titanium+ variant, Ford India’s vice president marketing, Rahul Gautam said that since the new Ford EcoSport facelift was launched, the company’s customers have been demanding a top of the range Titanium+ petrol manual model along with the enhanced safety of 6 airbags.
The new Ford EcoSport Titanium+ petrol model variant gets larger 17 inch alloy wheels and offers the added safety of 6 airbags, which is a first in segment offering. The petrol motor powered Titanium+ model was offered equipped only with a 6 speed automatic transmission gearbox, but it now comes with manual transmission option as well to keep the driving enthusiasts happy. The comprehensive airbag package of the Ford EcoSport comes along with dual front airbags, side and curtain airbags. Other important safety features include ABS (anti-lock braking system) with EBD (Electronic brakeforce distribution). There is also the Ford MyKey technology which offers an added dimension of safety in the SUV by allowing the drivers to set speed warnings, limit the car’s top speed and even audio volume and also activate a seat belt reminder. Ford EcoSport Titanium+ petrol top trim model also comes with several more safety equipments including Emergency Brake Assist system, Electronic Stability Control, Hill Launch Assist system and Traction Control System.
The Ford EcoSport petrol version gets powered by a 1.5 liter naturally aspirated petrol mill generating a peak power of 123 PS and 150 Nm of top torque. As per Ford India, the SUV also comes with a 7 percent reduction in CO2 emissions and offers a fuel efficiency of 17 km per litre. The diesel avatar of the Ford EcoSport packs in a 1.5 liter TDCi motor which comes with a claimed mileage of 23 km per litre.
Since its launch in late 2017, the sales of the new updated Ford EcoSport SUV have been increasing. The EcoSport has always been a highly popular SUV in India, and its new updated avatar is only ensuring it remains popular in the face of tough competition in the Indian market. The newly added petrol top trim of the EcoSport will further boost its sales in the country. In the car market of India, the EcoSport rivals in the growing sub-4 meter SUV segment with the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Mahindra TUV300 and Tata Nexon.
