Harley-Davidson launches 2018 Low Rider and Deluxe Softail motorcycle models in India
Harley-Davidson has just launched two new Softail motorcycle models in India today in order to commemorate the iconic bike brand’s 115th anniversary this year. Harley-Davidson has introduced the Low Rider and Deluxe in the Indian luxury two-wheeler market to reinforce the company’s Softail lineup in the country. The Low Rider and Deluxe come as the new members of the MY18 Softail model family which was launched last year, taking the total number of Softail models to six.
The two new Harley bikes boast of a stiffer and considerably lighter body which has been designed to efficiently tackle the high torque figure that is belted out from the new dual-counterbalanced Milwaukee-Eight 107 engine. The highly stylish and mean looking 2018 Harley-Davidson Softail motorcycles also boast of high-performance dual-bending valve front suspension setup along with a effortlessly easy to adjust hidden rear monoshock system. The cutting-edge technology, styling and sturdy built of these new motorcycles make them lighter, faster and offer enhanced handling as compared against its larger twin cruiser precursor models.
During the launch ceremony the Managing Director of Harley-Davidson India and China, Peter MacKenzie said that the Indian market has evolved a lot and buyers look for innovative technology and comfort in products. This is clearly noticed from the significant growth that the premium motorcycle segment is witnessing in India. Harley-Davidson received outstanding market response to the MY18 Softail range in India and the company is excited to introduce these two new motorcycle models to showcase the brand’s focus on innovative products for the Indian motorcycle enthusiasts and aspirant riders.
The 2018 Harley-Davidson Low Rider has been launched in the Indian market priced at Rs. 12.99 lakhs, while Harley-Davidson Softail Deluxe has been tagged at Rs. 17.99 lakhs (prices, ex-showroom, Delhi).
As already mentioned above the two new Harley-Davidson Softail motorcycle models come with an entirely new chassis for better performance. The new highly strong carbon steel tubular frame of the new 2018 Softail chassis along with the swingarm considerably increases the rigidity of the chassis. The frame is 65 percent stiffer than the previous Softail models, leading to a 34 percent increase in overall stiffness. The new bike models are up to 17kg lighter than its predecessors, making them deliver improved power-to-weight ratio which in turn offer quicker acceleration, enhanced braking and dynamic cornering abilities.
At the heart, the two new Harley-Davidson Softail models get the 1,745 cc, Milwaukee-Eight 107 motor which delivers 148 Nm of peak torque.
Apart from launching these two Softail motorcycles, Harley-Davidson India has also announced the price slash for its highly successful Touring and CVO range. The Road King, which was previously tagged at Rs. 2,837,000 has been slashed to the current Rs. 2,499,000, while the Street Glide Special which was priced at Rs. 3,350,000 is now tagged at Rs. 2,999,000. The Road Glide Special which was priced at Rs. 3,561,000 is now tagged at Rs. 3,299,000, while the CVOTM Limited old price tag of Rs. 5,372,000 has been slashed down to Rs. 4,999,000 now. Also, the Fat Boy Anniversary edition has been priced at Rs. 1,979,000.
With the launch of two new motorcycles and the price reduction for so many existing models, Harley-Davidson has certainly made its Indian fans super happy during the brand’s 115th Anniversary.
