Maruti Suzuki has been preparing to introduce the new-generation Suzuki Jimny on 5th July next month. The brochure of the upcoming Jimny has been leaked online revealing a number of new information about the vehicle. According to the leaked brochure, the next-generation Suzuki Jimny will be offered in two versions - the Standard base model and a slightly bigger and more equipped Jimny Sierra. Both the versions will be available in three variants each - XG, XL and XC.

The brochure reveals all the details about the upcoming small 4X4 SUV by Maruti Suzuki including design, styling, features and powertrain except for the pricing information. According to the leaked details, the upcoming Suzuki Jimny will come powered by a 0.66-litre turbocharged, three-cylinder petrol engine. On the other hand, the Jimny Sierra will get a 1.5-litre, naturally-aspirated 3-cylinder petrol engine that produces 100 bhp. Transmission duties in both the engines will be performed by either a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission. Other than this, the SUV will also come equipped with Suzuki's Allgrip Pro 4x4 system for improved capabilities as well.

Moving towards the design and features, the upcoming Jimny SUV measures 3,300 mm in length, 1,475 mm in width, and 1,715 mm in height with the wheelbase standing at 2,250 mm, while the range topping Jimny Sierra is 300 mm longer and comes with flared wheel arches that has extended its width by 125 mm as compared to the base model. The SUV will come with major styling updates with this new generation Jimny. The boxy design and square window gives it a look of baby version of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class. Other highlights include five-slot grille finished in matte black, a pair of classic round headlamps and individual turn indicators, a black heavy duty front bumper with a wide central airdam and round fog lamps on either end along with boxy wheel arches that house a set of stylish black five-spoke alloy wheels while the black treatment is further extended to the ORVMs and the roof gets a nice contrasting treatment.

The cabin inside the next- generation Suzuki Jimny also receives heavy updates with all black interior and a well-equipped dashboard featuring  a larger SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system as well as centre aircon vents similar to the ones seen in the Ignis, while the automatic climate control has been carried forward from the Swift. However, other highlights such as keyless entry, engine start-stop button and automatic headlamps will be offered on the top-spec models only.

The upcoming SUV by Maruti Suzuki will be offered both in single and dual color tone options. The Jungle Green, Medium Gray, Blue Ish Black Pearl, Silky Silver Metallic, Spare White, Pure White Pearl will be the options for the single tone lovers while those looking for dual color tones can choose from either of the Kinetic Yellow, Chiffon Ivory and Blyisque Blue Metallic color options. However, there is a catch here as the dual color tone options are only available on the range topping models.

The SUV has already been spied while the automaker was showcasing it to a select group of people. However, there is no confirmation if Maruti Suzuki will be bringing the Jimny to the Indian market as though the Gypsy is on its way out but Maruti Suzuki’s current budget line up is tightly packed in the country currently. Let’s wait till Maruti Suzuki announces anything official in this regard.
