Maruti Suzuki India has silently launched Ertiga’s Tour M diesel version, tagged at Rs. 9.81 lakh. The Indo-Japanese auto major introduced the Ertiga Tour M variant in May this year with a petrol engine only, priced at Rs. 8 lakh. Back in July, Maruti launched the CNG version of the same at Rs. 8.83 lakh (all prices are ex-showroom, Delhi). The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga Tour M variant is meant exclusively for the taxi, fleet and commercial operators.
Maruti Ertiga Tour M Variants And Prices:
Maruti Ertiga Tour M Engine Variants
Tour M Petrol
Rs. 8.0 lakh
Tour M CNG
Rs. 8.83 lakh
Tour M Diesel (New)
Rs. 9.81 lakh
The new Maruti Ertiga Tour M diesel variant is based on the VDI trim level of the regular Ertiga lineup. The variant is cheaper by a little over Rs. 5,000 than the regular trim. Interestingly, unlike most taxi focused vehicle variants, the Ertiga Tour M did not undergo heavy cost-cutting and also retains most of the features from its VDI version.
The new commercial variant of the Ertiga MPV still comes with features like projector headlights, body-colored door handles and wing mirrors, hubcaps and tail lights with LED elements. The Ertiga Tour M is offered for sale in three exterior colour options – black, white and silver.
On the inside, most of the features found on the regular Ertiga VDI are present, as already mentioned. The Ertiga Tour M diesel version offers power windows, keyless entry with remote, adjustable steering wheel, electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs, rear AC vents, and much more. The MPV also adheres to the new regulations and comes equipped with enhanced safety features. The safety equipment list includes dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, Brake Assist, front passenger seat belt reminder, speed alert system and rear parking sensor.
Under the hood, the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga Tour M diesel gets Maruti’s homemade 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine. The diesel engine makes 95PS of max power and 225Nm of peak torque. The engine gets paired with a 6 speed manual transmission. With this engine, the Ertiga Tour M is rated to deliver 24.2kmpl, which should be pleasing the fleet operators.
If you’re considering buying the Ertiga and cover a lot of distance on the highways, then the diesel engine is a very good option. Because stopping frequently to top up the CNG cylinder is not suitable. Also, the CNG tank will eat up the boot space while the diesel engine will leave the boot space untouched.
Maruti Suzuki has also very recently launched a more premium version of the Ertiga, which has been named as the XL6. It’s named so because it has only 6 seats. The second row has separate captain seats. Earlier, the Mahindra Marazzo was the cheapest MPV with captain seats in the second row. For a more comfortable ride, commercial buyers can also consider this car. But the only drawback is that it is only available at Nexa outlets. Therefore, the sales network is slightly limited compared to the wider network of the regular Maruti Suzuki and Arena dealerships.
