MG Cars At Auto Expo 2020:
The MG Hector is on display at the Auto Expo 2020. It is already on sale for Rs. 12.74 lakh to Rs. 17.28 lakh.
MG Hector Plus was revealed at the Auto Expo 2020. It has slightly different styling and comes with a 7 and 6 seat option. The 6-seat version has captain seats in the second row. Prices for the Hector Plus will be out soon. It’ll compete with the Tata Gravitas and Mahindra XUV500. Prices for the Hector Plus could start at Rs. 15.0 lakh (ex-showroom).
MG showcased the ZS Electric, which is priced at Rs. 20.88 lakh and Rs 23.58 lakh for the two variants.
MG had the ZS Petrol variants, which will launch sometime in 2021. It will have 1.3-litre turbo petrol and a 1.5-litre normal petrol engine. The turbo engine makes 164PS of power and 230Nm of torque. The 1.5-litre engine will have 120PS of power and 150Nm of torque. The normal petrol engine will get a 5-speed manual and a CVT automatic. The turbo petrol engine will get a 6-speed manual transmission. The ZS petrol has slightly different exterior styling and doesn’t look like the ZS electric. It will compete with the Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta.
MG Gloster is revealed at the Auto Expo 2020. This full-size, 3-row SUV competes with Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour. It may launch in a few months.
MG 360M is a 7-seater car with a longer body than the Ertiga or XL6. It had a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine with 143PS of power and 250Nm of torque. If it goes on sale, it could be positioned a notch higher than the Ertiga as a premium alternative.
MG RC 6 is an amalgamation of a sedan, coupe and a crossover. It’s large enough to compete with the likes of Skoda Superb and Toyota Camry but has a ground clearance of 198mm to rival the SUVs. It’s a unique design take to offer practicality without going the SUV or crossover route. It may launch in India if it sees enough traction at the Auto Expo 2020.
MG eMG6 Plug-in hybrid Sedan is similar in size to the Toyota Corolla and Skoda Octavia. It has an advertised 305PS of power and 480Nm of torque and can go for 51km in electric mode alone. It may launch in coming years if it sees enough people flocking in its direction at the Auto Expo.
MG E200 Small Electric Car is meant for 2. It has a 40PS motor with 110Nm of torque, which is on par with some premium hatchbacks like Hyundai Elite i20 and Maruti Baleno. With a 24kWh battery pack, it’s rated to go 250km on a single charge. The car at the show had 193km of range left in it with the battery at 84%. So, 250km sounds pretty accurate. A compact car like this with 2.4m of length can be a boon in the city traffic as you can find a parking spot pretty easily and dark it in and out of traffic like a champ.
MG MG3 Premium Hatchback is a rival for the Maruti Baleno and Elite i20. The car shown at the fair has a sunroof, which could be a first-in-segment feature if it goes on sale here. Its arrival in our market is yet to be determined.
MG Marvel X Luxury Electric SUV Concept is an electric SUV with Level 3 autonomous driving capabilities.
MG Vision-I Concept is a futuristic MPV concept with a luxurious interior and design touches.
MG G90 MPV is comparable in size to the Carnival but not as flashy from the outside. It may not launch in the next 2 years.
