JSW Motors Partnered Tata IIS For NEV Skilling

Here’s what JSW Motors Limited have to say about the partnership with Tata Indian Institute of Skills:

JSW Motors Limited, the new energy vehicle (NEV) manufacturing arm of the JSW Group, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Tata Indian Institute of Skills (Tata IIS) to create a structured technical talent pipeline ahead of the commissioning of its greenfield manufacturing plant in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra. The collaboration marks the first step in JSW Motors’ broader objective to develop an industry-leading skilling ecosystem that begins at the plant floor and extends across the manufacturing value chain.

Under the partnership, a JSW Motors-specific curriculum has been co-developed with Tata IIS, covering EV systems, automation, welding, CNC operations, battery systems, and advanced manufacturing. JSW Motors will retain hiring control and curriculum validation rights to ensure the programme remains aligned with its evolving production requirements and plant ramp-up timelines.

Rupam Singh, Chief Human Resources Officer, JSW Motors Limited Said:

“At JSW Motors, skilling is not an HR function, it is a business imperative. As we build our manufacturing operations, we need people who are ready from Day One. The Tata IIS partnership gives us structured capability, relevant curriculum, and the execution rigour aligned to our timelines. This is a deliberate bridge as we work towards building our own world-class training academy.”

Tata IIS was selected after a competitive evaluation of leading skilling institutions across India. The institute stood out for its industry-grade training infrastructure, strong OEM engagement track record, and application-based training methodology suited to modern EV manufacturing requirements. The collaboration also builds on JSW Foundation’s existing engagement with Tata IIS under broader Group-level skilling initiatives.

Venguswamy Ramaswamy, CEO Designate, Tata Indian Institute of Skills Said:

“At Tata IIS, our mission is to solve the nation’s skill challenges by creating a next generation workforce that is not just job-ready, but future-ready. This partnership with JSW Motors is a significant step toward that goal. By designing bespoke programs in Advanced Manufacturing, we are equipping India's youth with the high-precision skills required to drive the next generation of automotive excellence and ensuring a robust, consistent talent pipeline for our industry partners.”

JSW Motors' skilling strategy extends beyond its factory operations to include supplier and vendor partners, dealer networks, and end customers, reflecting its intent to build a comprehensive EV-ready ecosystem. As operations scale, the company plans to establish a dedicated in-house training academy focused on advanced manufacturing and future mobility technologies, positioning itself as a capability leader aligned with its manufacturing ambitions.
