In this December 2022 cars sales analysis article, we’ll look at the YoY and MoM change for the 20 top-selling cars of December 2022. Based on the data, we’ll also share our observations and possible reasons for big improvement or massive decline in sales where applicable.

December 2022 - 20 Top-Selling Cars YoY Change

Mahindra Scorpio reported the best growth, with a gain of almost 300% in terms of YoY comparison.
The next best YoY performer in December 2022 was Kia Sonet with 61.32% gains. The Seltos was the third best gainer with a YoY growth of 49.43% in December 2022.
Baleno was again the best-selling car in India with almost 17,000 untis sold in the month of December. Nexon keeps dropping in ranking based on dispatches.
The top 10 best selling cars in December 2022 sold well over 10,000 units a month.
Maruti’s WagonR was the top loser in YoY comparison analysis for the month of December with 48.39% decline in dispatches compared to December of 2021.
About 9 out of 20 models on the top 20 bestselling list in December 2022 are from Maruti Suzuki.
Hyundai, Tata and Mahindra each have 3 cars in the December 2022 YoY Top 20 performers list, while Kia just has 2.

December 2022 - 20 Top-Selling Cars MoM Change

Maruti Suzuki Eeco MPV was the top-performer in terms of MoM comparison analysis for the month of December with over 47% increase in dispatches as compared to November of 2022.
The Grand Vitara was the second best performer in the MoM comparison for the month of December, with a 39.21% growth in sales.
Most other cars in the top-selling cars’ list saw a MoM decline in dispatch numbers.
Alto pair from Maruti Suzuki topped the list of MoM losers with almost 45% decline in numbers, which were followed by 36% decline in MoM dispatches.
The Alto/Alto K10 pair was also the worst performer in the MoM comparison for the month of November, with a 26.33% drop in sales in November 2022 compared to the numbers of October.
