The Tata Harrier has finally gained a petrol engine option! Tata Motors are now accepting bookings for the 2026 Harrier petrol, which comes equipped with the same 1.5L turbo petrol engine that made its debut in the new Sierra 2026. We expect Tata Motors to reveal the prices of the Harrier petrol in the second week of January 2026.

Meanwhile, let’s take a look at the 2026 Harrier’s variant-wise engine and transmission options and their specifications. Tata Motors are offering the 2026 Harrier in 8 variants: Smart, Pure X, Adventure X, Adventure X Plus, Fearless X, Fearless X Plus and the new Fearless Ultra.

The 2026 Harrier is available with the following 4 powertrain options:

1.5L turbo petrol with 6-speed manual
1.5L turbo petrol with 6-speed automatic
1.5L turbo diesel with 6-speed manual
1.5L turbo diese with 6-speed automatic

Fearless Ultra is the new flagship variant, which was introduced along with the new turbo petrol engine. While Fearless Ultra is only available with the turbo petrol engine, Fearless X Plus Stealth is only available with the diesel engine.
All variants of the 2026 Harrier are available with the 1.5L turbo petrol engine with 6-speed manual transmission.
Except the base Smart variants, all variants of the 2026 Harrier are available with the 1.5L turbo petrol with 6-speed torque converter (TC) automatic.
All variants of the 2026 Harrier, barring the Fearless Ultra, are available with the 1.5L turbo diesel engine with 6-speed manual transmission.
All variants except the base Smart and new Fearless Ultra are available with the 1.5L turbo diesel engine with 6-speed torque converter (TC) automatic.

Both the 1.5L turbo petrol and 1.5L diesel engine that power the Harrier produce an identical 170PS of power. However, the diesel engine produces its peak power lower down the rev range.
The new 1.5L turbo petrol engine produces 70Nm less torque than the 1.5L diesel engine.
Both engines are offered with a choice of 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque converter automatic transmissions.
