Mahindra Marazzo is the new talk of the town. The upcoming MPV has been in news lately for its naming, exterior and interior revelation by the automaker. There have been a number of speculations regarding the launch of the Marazzo and now putting an end to all the rumors, Mahindra has confirmed the official date of launch as 3rd September 2018 in the country.
Codenamed as the U321 to most for the longest time, Mahindra Marazzo derives its name from a word in the Basque language, which translates to ‘shark’ in English. Marazzo is the first Mahindra passenger vehicle to be co-developed by its Research Valley, in Chennai and its North American Technical Centre, and has been co-designed by Pininfarina and Mahindra’s Kandivali design studio, in Mumbai. The MPV will be offered in seven- and eight-seat configurations.
According to the manufacturer, the Marazzo MPV will have an intimidating front look with shark-teeth like grille inserts, shark tail inspired tail lamps, shark fin antenna, futuristic purple color instrument cluster, leather interiors and industry first surround cooling system inspired by the name itself. Recently, Mahindra revealed the interior of the vehicle as well. According to the revealed images, the Mahindra Marazzo will offer industry-first surround cooling system mounted in the center of the roof. Other highlights include a bright cabin with light colored seats and a dual-tone dashboard with a piano-black finish and 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system that will support the likes of Apple Car Play, Android Auto along with navigation and Bluetooth. The middle row seats will get the option of a single 3-seater or individual captain seats, while the third-row seats can be accessed by folding the second-row seats and the third-row seats can also be folded to increase the boot capacity on the Marazzo. Also, the third-row seats can get a bottle holder on each side.
Under the hood, the upcoming Mahindra MPV will be offered with a new diesel powertrain only. However, the powertrain specifications have not been revealed by the manufacturer yet but according to the reports, the new vehicle, co-developed by Mahindra's Chennai Research Valley and North American Technical Centre, will get the new 1.5-litre diesel motor which is speculated to offer 119 bhp of power and 300 Nm of torque. The engine, initially, is expected to get a six-speed manual gearbox and an AMT or automatic transmission can be added at a later stage.
In terms of prices, the upcoming Mahindra Marazzo is expected to be somewhere in between that of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and the Toyota Innova Crysta. When launched, the Mahindra Marazzo MPV will take against the likes of the Toyota Innova Crysta and Tata Hexa in the segment. Apart from this, Mahindra is also redesigning its entire dealership network that will now be called as 'World of SUVs'. These dealerships will also get a new showroom inside the showroom to sell Mahindra's premium SUVs which will including the G4 Rexton and the Mahindra Marrazo.
