Japanese auto Mitsubishi has revealed the final edition models of the Pajero for the car market of Europe. The globally popular Mitsubishi Pajero SUV was first introduced to Europe back in 1982, but it is time for the vehicle to leave the European market because of poor sales, while the new stricter emission norms have also ensured its departure.
Mitsubishi is paying a tribute to the vehicle’s long successful history in Europe and thus, has recently announced two special-edition models both of which have been named as the Mitsubishi Pajero Final Edition. The Japanese auto major has planned to produce only 1,000 units of the Pajero Final Edition, out of which 300 units will be of the three-door version and 700 units will be the five-door version of the SUV. And each of the Pajero Final Edition unit will come with a unique numbered plaque.
When the special exterior design bits of the three-door Mitsubishi Pajero Final Edition are concerned, the SUV will be coming with distinctively styled new 18 inch off-road wheels wrapped in special 265/60 R18 tyres, heavy duty 4 mm thick front as well as underbody protection that has been finished in sporty matte black and roof rails. The three-door SUV’s final special edition model also comes with added new features to make things more interesting for the buyers. These new added features include automatic headlamps, rain sensing automatic wipers and headlight washers. The Japanese auto major has also endowed the SUV with a heated windscreen as well as an aluminium underbody skid plate that would offer protection to the engine and transmission.
On the inside, the Pajero Final Edition three-door model comes packed with an infotainment system with Bluetooth, cruise control and heated seats.
The five-door version of the Mitsubishi Pajero Final Edition has been equipped with larger 20 inch alloy wheels shod with 265/50 R20 tyres. When it comes to the features list, the five-door version comes packed with illuminated door sills, a rear spoiler, leather seat upholstery and a panoramic glass sunroof. The SUV also boasts of being equipped with Mitsubishi's infotainment system along with navigation.
Under the hood, both the three-door and five-door models of the Mitsubishi Pajero Final Edition come powered by a 3.2 litre 4 cylinder diesel engine which has the capability to churn out a max power output of 190 hp. The powerful oil burner comes paired with a refined 5 speed automatic transmission gearbox. The SUV models also come equipped with a full time All Four Wheel Drive (AWD) system as standard to offer all-terrain capabilities.
As far as the Indian car market is concerned, the Japanese SUV maker offers the Mitsubishi Pajero SUV for sale here named as the Mitsubishi Montero, which is steeply priced at Rs. 68.6 lakhs (price ex-showroom, Mumbai). However, the Japanese luxury SUV is most likely to stay in our market, and hence there’s no news of the Mitsubishi Pajero Final Edition models getting launched in India.
