Year 2018 is coming to a close and year 2019 is knocking at the door. New Year again means that it is time for the car buyers to shell out some additional premium, as car makers in India mostly increase the prices for their offerings new model year. It is a common practice for the car makers to hike up the prices of their car models at the beginning of every year to offset the rising production costs. Following this common trend, French automaker Renault has also announced that it is going to hike its car prices across its product portfolio.
Renault India has announced that the company is going to increase the prices of its vehicles across its entire range, which currently comprises of only 4 models – the Kwid, Duster, Lodgy and the Captur. The price hike is going to come into effect on 1st January, 2019. Renault India is increasing the prices of its car models in the country by up to 1.5 percent, which will result into a hike from Rs. 4,000 to Rs. 19,875 depending on the car model. The French car maker has stated the reason behind this price increase is owing to the increasing input costs and the dipping rupee valuation apart from other reasons.

The Renault Kwid entry-level hatchback has an ongoing price range of Rs. 2.66 lakhs to Rs. 4.63 lakhs. The Kwid is the most affordable model in the entire Renault range for the Indian market and is also the highest selling model from the house of Renault. The Kwid’s price range is going increase from Rs. 4,000 to Rs. 6,945 from January 1st.
The long time popular Renault Duster compact SUV has a current price range of Rs. 7.99 lakhs to Rs. 12.79 lakhs, and it is going to increase by Rs. 11,985 to Rs. 19,185 depending on the model trim.
Next up is the Renault Lodgy MPV, which despite being a good model couldn’t make a mark in the domestic Indian car market. The Lodgy is currently priced in the range of Rs. 8.63 lakhs to Rs. 12.11 lakhs and is going to increase by Rs. 12,945 to up to Rs. 18,165 depending on the variant.
Finally, the Renault Captur flagship compact SUV, which is also Renault’s latest launch in India, is currently priced in the range of Rs. 9.99 lakhs to Rs. 13.25 lakhs. After theprice hike comes into effect, the Capture range is going to become dearer by Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 19,875, depending on the model.
