The Urban Cruiser is basically a rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. Upfront, it gets a new grille and a restyled bumper. The side and the rear, on the other hand, remain unchanged except for the badging. On the inside, while the layout remains unchanged, the Urban Cruiser gets black-brown finish instead of an all-black cabin in the Vitara Brezza.
In terms of features, the Urban Cruiser gets auto LED headlamps, LED fog lamps, rain-sensing wipers, auto AC with rear AC vents, tilt-adjustable steering, auto-dimming IRVM, parking camera and a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Safety features on offer include dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, ISOFIX child seat anchors and speed alert system.
Things are no different under the hood. The Urban Cruiser also gets a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine making 105PS of power and 138Nm of peak torque. It is mated to either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. Like the Brezza, the Urban Cruiser also gets a mild-hybrid system with automatic variants.
Toyota is offering the Urban Cruiser in 6 monotone exterior colour options: white, gray, silver, brown, blue and orange. The Premium variant doesn’t get brown, blue and orange monotone colours, instead it is available with these colours with a black roof. The dual-tone version costs Rs 18,000 more than the standard version.
The Urban Cruiser is the second sub-4m SUV to go on sale in the last few weeks after the Kia Sonet. Other than that, it takes on the likes of the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300 and the Ford EcoSport.
