2018 Range Rover And Range Rover Sport Launched In India, Bookings Commence

Jaguar Land Rover has launched the 2018 model of Range Rover and Range Rover Sport in India. In terms of pricing, while the prices for the 2018 Range Rover start from Rs 1.74 crore (ex-showroom, India) and go up to Rs 2.41 crore (ex-showroom, India) including LWB versions, the 2018 Range Rover Sport is priced between Rs 99.48 lakh (ex-showroom, India) and Rs 1.72 crore (ex-showroom, India). The automaker has also started taking the bookings for the 2018 model of its flagship SUVs across all of its 27 dealerships in the country. However, the official launch of both the premium SUVs will happen later this year.
Announcing the commencement of the bookings, Rohit Suri, President & Managing Director, Jaguar Land Rover India said, "The Range Rover and Range Rover Sport have always offered best-in-class comfort, technologies, refinement and driving pleasure. With the Model Year 2018 Range Rover and Range Rover Sport, we have refined and honed our flagship models with technologies and features that have raised the benchmark once again."
Talking about the updates, both the luxurious SUVs receive significant updates to their exterior and interiors. The features include the pixel-laser LED headlights reminiscent of the Velar, a new mesh grille design and the dual screen Touch Pro Duo infotainment first seen on the Velar, new designed rear seating with power deployable centre console, a gesture-controlled sunblind, adaptive cruise control with a queue assist, a 'hot-stone' massage function with heated seats, air cabin ionization, 4G Wi-Fi hotspot connectivity and up to 17 connecting points for charging and multimedia.
Mechanically, both the 2018 Range Rover and Range Rover Sport offer the same 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine with 254 BHP of maximum power and 600 Nm torque, a 4.4 litre V8 diesel motor producing 335 BHP of power and 740 Nm torque, a 3.0-litre V6 supercharged petrol mill churning out (335 BHP of power and 450 Nm of peak torque and a 5.0-litre V8 supercharged petrol unit capable of making 517 BHP power and 625 Nm torque. All the engines come mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
;According to the company, the company's new products such as the fifth-generation all-new Land Rover Discovery and the New Range Rover Velar have been received very well in the market as well as other models like Jaguar XE, XF and F-Pace and Land Rover Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque have also done well. This has led to the sales jump of 83 per cent in FY18 driven almost equally by the Jaguar and Land Rover brands.
Both the updated models are a part of the ten new launches the carmaker has planned for the 2018-19 fiscal year. However, the company is yet to announce the official launch date for both the updated JLR Range Rover and Range Rover Sport. The entire Range Rover line-up known for its balance between high-end luxury and off-roading capability and in the case of the Sport, competent road-going manners as the automaker is focused to improve these aspects with every update. Both the luxury SUVs will take against the likes of the Audi Q7, Porsche Cayenne, BMW X5 and Bentley Bentayga.
