Mercedes-Benz India, the country’s leading luxury automaker has launched the V-Class luxury MPV model. The 2019 Mercedes-Benz V-Class has a starting price of Rs. 68.40 lakhs for its base model Expression Line, while the prices go up to Rs. 81.90 lakhs for the top of the range model Exclusive Line (all prices ex-showroom, across India). With the launch of the V-Class, Mercedes-Benz has re-ventured into the luxury MPV market of India, which is quite a niche segment. The V-Class’ launch also marks the start of the company’s new model launch strategy in India for 2019.

When it comes to the exterior design language, the Mercedes-Benz V-Class comes with the signature van design, which is a bit boxy. Nevertheless, this massive, luxury people mover looks quite classy with its overall plain yet elegant styling along with some bold character on its front fascia and side profile. It shares some design cues with its sedan siblings like the E-Class and S-Class. It boasts of highly stylized headlights that are quite reminiscent to the S-Class. It comes with LED units and integrated LED DRLs. It gets patent Mercedes-type front grille with twin slats and the three pointed star logo in the middle. The luxury van also gets roof rails, stylish alloys, large rear windshield and vertically placed small LED tail lights.

On the inside, the new 2019 Mercedes-Benz V-Class obviously offers a well appointed and premium cabin. The cabin is stylish, feature-rich and up-class and offers high level of practicality. It has been endowed with a neat and elegant dashboard design with large A.C vents and a display for its COMAND infotainment system. There is a new multifunctional steering wheel and twin-pod instrument cluster along with MID.

The V-Class MPV comes in two seating configurations. The lower Expression trim comes with an extra long wheelbase and offers a 7-seat configuration, while the high-end Exclusive trim comes with standard long wheelbase and is offered in 6-seat configuration with luxurious captain seats and a foldable table at the centre to support a conference on the go.

The second-row seats can be rotated to face the door to facilitate easy ingress and egress. The seats also have 18-degree swivel function, allowing the passengers to sit facing each other, again making the vehicle fit for holding meetings on the go.

The extra-long wheelbase Expression Line trim is 5370 mm long and gets an extended wheelbase measuring 3430 mm. On the other hand, the standard long-wheelbase Exclusive Line trim is 5140 mm long with 3200 mm wheelbase.

The India-spec V-Class gets equipped with a 2.2L 4-cylinder BSVI compliant diesel motor offering 161bhp and 380Nm and gets paired with a 7G-Tronic automatic transmission.

The new 2019 Mercedes-Benz V-Class MPV is a fully imported (CBU) vehicle in India, and will come from Spain.
