In terms of dimensions, the new 2019 Kwid has grown longer. It’s because of the additional cladding and redesigned bumpers, which now also accommodate the main headlamps. The height is lower now for some reason. The ground clearance is 4mm more and the boot space is 21 litres less than before. The bigger tyres and wheels contribute towards increasing the ground clearance while the requirement of larger wheel marginally wells eat into the boot space.

The fuel tank capacity, wheelbase and width remain unchanged.

On the powertrain side, it’s business as usual. The 799cc and 999cc 3-cylinder engines are carried over without any change. The power figures, as well as the transmission options, are still the same. There’s a 5-speed manual with both the engines while the bigger engine also gets a 5-speed automatic.

And no matter which variant you pick, you’ll get a decent safety kit as part of the package including ABS, driver airbag and parking sensors. A big deal considering the starting price of just Rs. 2.83 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
