The very popular Renault Kwid hatchback is getting all braced up to come in its updated avatar this year. The Kwid entry-level hatchback is by far the bestselling model from the house of Renault India. As per reports, Renault is all geared up to introduce the refreshed Kwid. It is said that the updated Renault Kwid will offer even better value for money with a handful of added new features. However Renault India has not yet confirmed anything about the updated Kwid. Nonetheless, the popular Kwid has been witnessing sales dip lately, and a good update is all that is required to gain more customer attention in the highly competitive Indian car market.
The French car maker is still selling the Kwid hatch in the good numbers of more than 5500-6000 units on an average per month. The Kwid is still the second largest selling entry level hatchback in India after the ever popular Maruti Suzuki Alto. However, a good update is always required in a highly competitive market.
The updated 2019 Kwid will offer better safety equipments with ABS with EBD and seatbelts with pre-tensioners as standard features across all variants. The car will get a driver’s side airbag RxE trim onwards.
Other features on the inside will include a restyled LCD display for the speedometer console. The Kwid was the first mini hatchback to offer an all-digital console and an updated unit will definitely keep it fresh. The Kwid facelift will also get an updated touch-screen interface for the infotainment system and would offer Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. The car will also continue to offer a reverse camera, which is a great feature in this car segment.
As per the reports, the new updated 2019 Renault Kwid is already under production and is set to hit the dealerships soon. It is good to mention that the 2019 Kwid is reportedly set to get only a feature update with no cosmetic changes on the outside or on the inside. Moreover, no specification changes will also be there, making it an equipment list update only.
As already mentioned, the 2019 Renault Kwid is going get powered by both the ongoing 0.8 litre and 1.0 litre petrol mills without any updates. The 1 liter mill will also continue to offer with an optional rotary knob style AMT gearbox, which is a highly interesting and first ever feature in its own class and even few segments above it. The smaller engine offers 54 PS of power and 72 Nm of torque, while the larger engine generates 68 PS along with 91 Nm, and offers a better buying option.
The ongoing Renault Kwid entry-level hatchback comes with a highly aggressive starting price of Rs. 2.66 lakhs for the base model, while the top of the range Climber AMT model is tagged at Rs. 4.6 lakhs (prices ex-showroom Delhi). The Kwid directly rivals the most popular car in India - the Maruti Alto and with its Japanese cousins the Datsun redi-GO.
The best part of the updated 2019 Renault Kwid is that it is expected to come with no price hike. Thus, with the same prices and better features list, the new updated Kwid is set to entice the customers with greater value for money proposition than ever before.
