Honda has stopped manufacturing BS4 version of the petrol-powered Amaze. The carmaker will soon introduce the BS6 version of the Amaze in India. The 2020 Amaze is powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine that produces 90PS of maximum power and 110Nm of peak torque. It is available with a 5-speed manual and a CVT-type automatic transmission. Honda has already upgraded the City petrol’s engine to meet BS6 emission standards.
In the BS6 Amaze, the petrol engine will continue to offer the same output as in the BS4 iteration, and transmission options will also be carried forward. Dealerships that do not have any BS4 Amaze petrol stock have started to accept bookings for the BS6 version. There will be an upward price revision when the BS6 Amaze goes on sale. Honda’s dealerships in Delhi confirm delivery of the BS6 Amaze at the same price as the BS4 version, if booked in January 2020. Deliveries for the BS6 Amaze will start in the second half of February.
At present, the petrol-powered Amaze starts from Rs. 5.93 lakh and goes up to Rs. 8.77 lakh. It competes against the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Volkswagen Ameo, Hyundai Xcent and Upcoming Aura, Ford Aspire and Tata Tigor. In this segment, only the Dzire is available with a BS6 petrol engine as of now. The upcoming Hyundai Aura will also be powered by a BS6 petrol engine, and it will also be the first car in the segment to get a BS6 diesel engine.
