Hyundai has just launched the BS6-compliant Venue with a newer, bigger and more powerful 1.5-litre diesel engine. Naturally, the prices have gone up too but not to the degree it was expected despite a bigger engine.

The S and SX (O) have received the biggest price hike of Rs. 56,000. Meanwhile, the entry-level E and SX dual-tone variants’ prices are up by a reasonable sum of Rs. 35,000.

With the new engine, the Hyudain Venue is now better equipped to tackle the other subcompact SUVs, all of which have had a bigger and more powerful 1.5-litre engine. The newer engine gives the Venue 10PS more power and 20Nm more torque. It may have been low on power before, but the all important torque of 220Nm was there even in the 1.4-litre engine. That torque output was even better than the Ford EcoSport’s rating of 205Nm despite its larger displacement.
