2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Production Begins – Launch On May 10 | V3Cars

Mercedes-Benz India have kickstarted the local assembly of the 2022 C-Class at their manufacturing facility in Chakan, Pune. The prices of the 2022 C-Class will be announced on May 10. Mercedes-Benz like to call the new C-Class the ‘Baby S’ as it’s said to boast most of the qualities of the S-Class under a compact footprint. Mercedes-Benz will offer the 2022 C-Class with three powertrain options – C200, C220d and C300d.

Mercedes-Benz revealed the new-gen C-Class, codenamed W206, in various global markets last year. The 2022 C-Class takes inspiration from the bigger and more luxurious S-Class. The design influence is visible inside out, with sleeker LED headlights and tail lights on the outside and a vertically-stacked touchscreen infotainment system on the inside.

The 2022 C-Class has grown bigger in terms of dimensions. Its wheelbase has been increased by 25mm over the outgoing model. Mercedes have also made the front overhang shorter while increasing the length of the rear overhang, just like in the new S-Class.

On the inside, the 2022 C-Class gets an updated dashboard. The centre of the dash gets three circular AC vents that sit atop the vertically-stacked touchscreen. The touchscreen measures 11.9-inches whereas the driver’s display measures 12.3-inch in size. The 2022 C-Class also gets a new three-spoke steering wheel with twin sub-spokes at either end. It gets capacitive controls for the driver’s display and the infotainment system.

The 2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class now gets a mild-hybrid set-up with all of its powertrain options. Mercedes-Benz will offer the C-Class 200 and 300d at launch whereas the C220d will follow later. The C-Class C200 comes with a 1.5L turbo petrol engine which produces 204PS of power and 300Nm of torque. The C300d gets a 2.0L turbo diesel engine which produces 258PS of power and 400Nm of torque. All engine options come mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission.
