Skoda Unveils 2024 Kodiaq With Plug-In Hybrid, Mild Hybrid, Turbo Petrol and Diesel Engines | V3Cars
Skoda Auto have unveiled the 2024 Kodiaq SUV with mild hybrid, plug-in hybrid, turbo petrol and turbo diesel engine options. The 2024 Skoda Kodiaq is larger and more spacious than before and is likely to launch in India in 2024. Read on to know more about the Skoda Kodiaq 2024.
2024 Skoda Kodiaq – Larger And More Spacious Than Before
Like the 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan that was revealed a few weeks ago, the new Skoda Kodiaq 2024 is based on VW Group’s MQB-Evo platform. While Skoda have increased the length of the new Kodiaq by 61mm, at 4758mm, the wheelbase remains the same as before, at 2971mm. However, the width has reduced by 18mm, at 1864mm while the height has reduced by 17mm, at 1659mm.

The increase length has resulted in a larger boot – 910-litres in the 5 seater version and 340 litres in the 7-seater version. Skoda claim the increased dimensions have resulted in better headroom (920mm) for 3rd row passengers.
2024 Skoda Kodiaq Exterior Design
The new Kodiaq 2024 gets an evolutionary design. Up front, Skoda’s signature butterfly grille is now larger than before and are flanked by LED headlights with L-shaped LED DRLs. The range-topping Sportline variant gets Matrix LED headlamps as standard with 50 percent more lighting elements to produce a 15 percent increase in illumination. The Sportline variant also gets a thin light strip that passes through the grille to connect the LED DRLs on either side. The reduced height gives the new Kodiaq a station wagon/estate-esque design.
The new Kodiaq continues to feature black wheel arch and side cladding for a rugged look. The rear of the new Kodiaq looks sharper than before with a steeply raked windscreen and roof-mounted spoiler. The C-shaped LED taillights are connected by a thin reflector strip and the tailgate features ‘SKODA’ lettering.
Wheel sizes range from 17-inch to 20-inch based on the variants. The range-topping Sportline variant of the 2024 Kodiaq gets black accents on the D-pillar while other variants get a satin silver finish. The Kodiaq Sportline also offers a black finish for the front grille surrounds, roof rails, window frames, ORVM covers, rear diffuser and badges along with exclusive 19-inch wheels. Additionally, 20-inch wheels with aero covers are optional with the Sportline variant.

2024 Skoda Kodiaq Interior Design And Features
The cabin of the new Skoda Kodiaq looks similar to the new Superb’s interior. The top variants of the new Kodiaq features a massive 13-inch free-standing touchscreen infotainment system while the lower variants get a 10-inch screen. The driver gets a 10-inch full-digital instrument cluster while a next-generation head-up display is optional. Meanwhile, the gear selector has been repositioned from the centre console onto a stalk behind the steering wheel, just like in the Mercedes-Benz S-Class.
The centre console features 3 dials with 1.25-inch displays built into them. The outer dials allow the driver and passenger to adjust the HVAC settings, as well as seat ventilation and heating. The dial at the centre offers multiple functions, including volume, fan speed, and air direction. Other features include:

For the first time, the new Skoda Kodiaq is available with a plug-in hybrid engine option. The Kodiaq PHEV offers a 1.5L turbo petrol engine mated to an electric motor. The total system output is rated at 204PS of power and 350Nm of torque. The electric motor is powered by a 25.7kWh lithium-ion battery that offers an electric-only driving range of 100km, and supports fast-charging of up to 50kW using a DC charger.
The 1.5L turbo petrol mild hybrid engine produces 150PS of power and 250Nm of torque. This engine offers cylinder deactivation technology and brake energy recuperation for enhanced fuel economy. If these figures aren’t enough, there’s a 2.0L turbo petrol engine that puts out 240PS of power and 320Nm of torque mated to an all-wheel-drive system. Other options include a 2.0L diesel engine in 2 states of tune – 150PS/360Nm and 193PS/400Nm – of which the latter gets all-wheel-drive as standard.
2024 Skoda Kodiaq India Launch
Skoda are likely to launch the 2024 Kodiaq in India next year. Skoda India are yet to confirm the powertrain options for the India-spec Kodiaq. With Skoda no longer offering diesel engines in India, we could expect them to offer the plug-in hybrid or mild-hybrid powertrains in India for customers concerned about running costs. The current Skoda Kodiaq sold in India is offered with the 2.0L turbo petrol engine only and it competes with the likes of the Toyota Fortuner and MG Gloster.
