Tata Motors have launched the 2024 Altroz Racer at a starting price of Rs. 9.49 lakh (ex-showroom). Available in 3 variants, the new Altroz Racer rivals the Hyundai i20 N Line in India. Bookings for the Altroz Racer are currently open for a token amount of Rs. 11,000. Here are the variant-wise prices, features and engine specifications of the new Altroz Racer.

The new Tata Altroz Racer hot hatch is available in 3 variants: R1, R2, and R3. Here are their prices:
The Tata Altroz Racer comes with an all-black cabin with orange accents on the centre console, aircon vents, and seat upholstery. Features include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 7.0-inch digital driver’s display, automatic climate control, 360-degree surround camera, blind spot monitor, air purifier, ambient lighting, ventilated front seats, and a sunroof.

Essentially, the base R1 variant of the Altroz Racer offers similar features as the XZ trim of the standard Altroz. Moving up, the R2 variant adds a wireless phone charger and a 360-degree camera for enhanced convenience. Finally, the top-of-the-line R3 variant boasts ventilated seats for added comfort. Compared to the Hyundai i20 N Line, the base R1 variant of the Altroz Racer is Rs. 70,000 cheaper than the N6 dual-tone variant of the Hyundai hatchback. The Altroz Racer R2 is Rs. 30,000 more expensive than the N6 dual-tone variant of the i20 N Line. The top Altroz Racer R3 variant is priced Rs. 1.93 lakh cheaper than the top N8 dual-tone variant of the i20 N Line. The Altroz Racer features the Nexon’s 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine. Compared to the standard Altroz turbo petrol, the Altroz Racer puts out 10PS more power and 30Nm more torque. Now, let’s compare how the Tata Altroz Racer stacks up against its primary rival, the Hyundai i20 N Line:
The Tata Altroz Racer and Hyundai i20 N Line produce near identical power and torque outputs. The Altroz Racer is only available with a 6-speed manual gearbox at launch. It remains to be seen if Tata offer the Altroz Racer with a dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT) at a later stage.
